Je vous enverrai la Rose de France et tâcherai d’y joindre quelques dessins en tenue d’été mais ne les montrez pas aux Américains, ils sont pudiques. Comptez-vous rester longtemps là-bas ? Je peins peu mais je fais des dessins. Vous savez que je devais illustrer les Liaisons dangereuses mais la crise du papier retarde cette édition. En attendant le temps où le papier fleurira comme en temps de paix je m’occupe de l’édition de quelques contes des Mille et une nuits copieusement illustrés. Je m’aperçois que je vous écris sur un papier bien sale. Je n’ai pas encore vu. votre édition de chez Devambez. Tout est long - même la guerre. J’ai fait une exposition de dessins à Lyon qui n’a jusqu’à présent aucun succès. J’y étais arrivé en pleine grève et j’en ai profité pour faire une promenade à Marseille où je me suis bien amusé. Connaissez-vous la rue Bouterie ? Si par hasard vous passez par Marseille, demandez donc à n’importe quel Africain, Chinois ou Siamois où ça se trouve.
