An 18th century Chinese Dutch decorated plate the central circular reserve enamelled with a floral spray, within a red and gilt border with yellow scale floral pendants, the rim painted with six navette form reserves enclosing flowers and gourds, divided by iron red flowers on a pastel blue batwing reserve with ruyi motifs, the underside with four iron red flowers, 10 1/8in. (25.75cm.) diameter. *Condition: In very good condition. No chips, cracks or restoration. Minor gilt wear.
Alexander Monro (British, 1802-1867) 'From the upper garden of the Plaiderie Guernsey 9th June 1842', with Castle Carey distant pencil drawing heightened with oil pastel and chalk on blue paper, inscribed verso, unframed 10¾ x 15in. (27.3 x 38.1cm.) *Condition:Unframed, not mounted. Small 5mm. tear to lower margin, minor corner curl. Very good overall.
Kenneth Lockwood (British, 1920-2017) Three Fantasy mixed media pictures - The first depicting a silhouette of a girl with dog, playing in a garden or park, behind the railings a mysterious creature, Robin in foreground, pastel, watercolour, pen and oil on wove paper, 19¼ x 12½in. (49 x 32cm.); the second with coloured newspaper, females dancing around a sailing dingy, seagulls in the foreground, titled "Summer" verso; the third depicting a church with outline nude female silhouette, beetle in foreground, watercolour, bodycolour and oil, each piece signed. A Mitzi Gaynor gown worn on Mitzi...What's Hot, What's Not, designed by bob MackieCBS, 1978. Full-length chiffon gown in various pastel shades, completely fashioned in accordion pleats (including the long puffed sleeves), with front and back scooped neckline and a bodice of beaded and sequined accents, a ruched waistband, and a full flowing skirt with a completely sequined nude souffle skirt underneath for extra sparkle, enhanced by an asymmetrical beaded adornment at the waist with dangling sequins and paillettes, bearing an interior label inscribed, 'Bob Mackie.' Mitzi sang the Barry Manilow hit, 'Can't Smile Without You,' while wearing this elegant gown on her 1978 TV special and while performing in her 1978-79 stage show. Accompanied by a photo of Mitzi wearing the gown on the show.
18th Century Manuscript Volumes on French Peerage Manuscript: "Recueil de tous les actes concernant les Ducs & Pairs de France. Ensemble L'origine de la Pairie d'Angleterre & des Grands d'Espagne. Depuis l'an 900 jusqu'en 1660." Vol. II & III (ex 3) 4to, 327 and 391ff respectively. Bound in contemporary mottled calf with embossed gold tooled supralibros and elaborately gold tooled spine. Marbled endpapers. In excellent condition, apart from slight cracking of joints in vol 3.The arms embossed in gold tooling on the boards of both volumes are those of Gabriel Bernard, Comte de Rieux (1687-1745), a member of the Parlement de Paris and from 1727, President of the Chambre des Comptes. In this capacity he presumably needed works such as these, reproducing the decrees associated with the peerage of France. In his fine pastel portrait by Maurice Quentin de la Tour, now in the Getty Center, Los Angeles, he is shown wearing his official robes,seated in his library; on the table beside him repose two volumes very similar in appearance to those now on offer.
