Charlie Shiels (British, 1947-2012) - 'Peter and Fred' Pastel, signed, titled and dated 1997 to mount, approx 61x41cm, framed. NB: Charlie Shiels was born in Stockport and lived in Manchester. He lectured in Art & Design at Stockport College of further Education, later to become Senior Lecturer. Charlie had a one man exhibition at The Blythe in Manchester, The Unicorn Gallery in Chelsea, and The Woolff Gallery in Shoreditch, London. Charlie also produced commissioned work for the BBC Publications, London Underground (poster design), Corgi Books, Marks & Spencer, and numerous others. (illustrated)
Geoffrey Key (Manchester b. 1941)- 'Figure in Blue' Acrylic and pastel, signed and dated (19)78, bears label verso for the Pitcairn Galleries, Knutsford, Cheshire, also artists label verso, also inscribed by hand with title verso, presumably by artist, approx 47x34am, framed. Provenance: Accompanying this lot is an original bill of sale from the Pitcairn Galleries dated 28th November 1979. NB: Geoffrey Key is now an artist of international repute, he has mounted major exhibitions in France, Hong Kong, the USA and Australia and is represented in important public and corporate collections, including the Salford and Manchester Art Galleries, the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Jockey Club Hong Kong, Societe Roquefort, Chateau de St Ouen, and Perrier.
