Illustration Interest Original Watercolour By Patience Arnold 1901-1992 'A Day At The Beach' Patience Arnold was born in Royston Yorkshire but spent her childhood in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. Arnold studied at the Harris School of Art, Preston and became a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art. In 1967 Patience set up a studio in the Lake District and continued to produce unique and whimsical illustrations for books, greetings cards and private commissions which brought her national recognition. Our client's mother was a long term friend of Arnold's and many of the works presented here were commissioned privately and have remained in our clients private collection. The works have never been offered for sale commercially until now. Presented here is an original watercolour depicting an incredibly detailed Edwardian beach scene with children and their nurses, donkeys, Punch And Judy show etc. In the background changing huts and a pier are rendered in thin washes of pastel watercolour. Signed to bottom left in watercolour 'Patience Arnold' Framed and mounted under glass, 18 x 12.5 inches. Excellent condition.
A collection of Art Deco powder compacts in pastel shades with typical geometric designs, including one with a Pierrot head, several with stylised floral motifs and another with enamelled lid depicting blue tits (15). Quantity of textiles including a 1930's printed abstract pattern cotton day dress in pastel shades, together with an early 19th century style pale blue cotton empire line dress and 2 similar chemises, a broderie anglaise nightdress, a quantity of bonnets and caps and a sampler dated 1822. !920's dress faded, broderie nightdress undamaged, but badly stained, blue dress, chemises and remaining clothes grubby and sampler in poor condition.
Vikentios BOCCHECIAMPE Greek, 1856 -1932 Dusk signed lower right oil on panel 15 x 19 cm PROVENANCE private collection, Athens Vikentios Boccheciampe was born on the island of Corfu in 1856. His family descended from a French noble family bearing the title of Baron. He studied initially in Marseilles, then Florence and lastly in Rome at the Academia di San Luca. In 1895 he returned to Corfu where he co-founded, together with Angelos Giallina, the Corfu Art School. Later he settled down in Athens where he held a teaching position at The School of Fine Art, until his retirement in 1928. Boccheciampe was one of the leading landscape artists of his period depicting Greek nature especially that of his native Corfu. Together with Angelos Giallina he was one of the leading watercolor artists of the Ionian Islands. He worked not only on watercolor but also with oil and pastel. He held a large number of solo shows and participated in many prestigious group exhibitions such as the1900 Exposition Internationale Universelle in Paris. His work can be found in The National Gallery, Greece, The Koutlides Collection, The National Bank of Greece, The Leventis Gallery, The Municipal Gallery Athens and many other public and private collections.

Describing with specifications and pastel sketches by Harold Connolly, the 16/60 Greyhound; 16/70 Ace DHC; 16/80 Ace Competition Sports, together with optional extras. In good condition, the centre pages pulled-away from the staples. Also, 'ACtion', a 1936 petit leaflet of 16pp, with descriptions and photographs of competition achievements in 1935 and 1936. A gentle vertical crease and a dealer stamp on both covers (2)
