ROCK - Nice large collection of around 50 x LP's to include collectible titles. Artists/albums to include The Who - Quadrophenia (early UK pressing on Track (2657 013 - VG+ to Ex with only a couple of light surface marks/VG+ - early "pastel grey" sleeve with minor edgewear, booklet fully intact), The Band - The Last Waltz (reissue K 66076- Ex/Ex), Black Sabbath - Paranoid (1st UK Vertigo swirl pressing with "Vertigo" below the spindle hole - 6360 011 - G+ with several surface marks, no deeper scratches/VG), Fleetwood Mac (Rumours), Neil Young (After The Goldrush), The Beatles (x5) to include a 1st mono Sgt Peppers (G/Ex), Let It Be, red and blue albums, David Bowie, Bad Company, Bob Dylan and The Eagles. Condition is generally VG to Ex with many titles VG+ or better.
HUGH DOUGLAS HAMILTON (1739-1808)A Portrait of Mary Preston Pastel and crayon, oval, 27 x 21.5cms (10.6 x 8.5)In gadroon gilt wood frame, with a contemporary paper label verso, Mary Preston youngest daughter of the Hon. Henry Hamilton, also with a later (19th century) label giving a misleading identification and attribution to Rosalba Carriera.Mary Hamilton married in 1764 (as his second wife) Nathaniel Preston of Swainston, Co. Meath. Her father was a younger son of Viscount Boyne of Stackallan, Co. Meath and her parents were intimate with Mrs Delaney who of them said - I never saw a couple better suited than Mr Hamilton and his wife, their house like themselves looks cheerful and neat...., they have four children, whose behaviour shows the sense of their parents. Mary's brother, Sackville Hamilton became a competent and respected Civil Servant.Provenance: Christie's 01/06/1928 Lot 30 (18 guineas)bought by John Maher, Bloomfield, Enniscorthy, thence by descent.Adam's, Important Irish Art 28/09/2005 Lot 25 (€8,200)

Illustrated inside front cover.The title Viscount Lifford was created in 1781 for the 1st Baron Lifford who was Lord Chancellor of Ireland. It is thought that this portrait is of the wife of the second Viscount who was Dean of Armagh 1796 - 1830. The family seat was Meenglass House, near Stranorlar in Co. Donegal.
