Oil On Canvas The Fat Robin by Vivak Mandalia (British) signed 37 x 37cmVivek’s paintings are a festivity of whimsy, floral and ornate creations. Muted/ desaturated tones and precise compositions are reminiscent of Vivek’s history with spacial architecture, as such neutral colours are synonymous with interior design. A now conscious use of daring broad brushstrokes fills up the negative space within his paintings. Classic still life compositions are textured in the pasty oil paint. Vivek finds a new form of freedom with oil pastel, embracing the minimalist aesthetic. He believes that these smaller works have the potential to inform his painting process, and so continues to produce these drawings as regularly as he can. “Drawing is a freeing exercise that fosters new ideas and go against the rigid application of paint that is so common in his practise”.
