λ Peter Brown (British b. 1967) Street scene Oil on board Signed and dated 96 (lower right) 30 x 41cm (11¾ x 16 in.) Peter Brown is a Bath based artist, also known as 'Pete the Street'. Having previously worked in Ancoats as well as in London, he studied at the Manchester Polytechnic. He works directly from his subject, an all-weather painter of street scenes and city landscapes. He developed a vigorous en plein air style, and happily interacts with passers-by while at work. Brown is a passionate member of the New English Art Club, as well as a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Pastel Society, Bath Society of Artists and an honorary member of the Royal Society of British Artists.
