•Peter Edward Mackenzie Brown N.E.A.C. (b. 1967) - Panorama of The City of Bath from Beechen Cliff, Alexandra Park, signed and dated '98 (1998), oil on canvas, 30" x 72" - ** The preparatory studies for this painting are held with the Building of Bath Museum - ** The artist is a British impressionist painter popularly know as 'Pete The Street' from his practice of working on location in all weathers. He is best known for his depictions of street scenes and landscapes in and around Bath, but also paints scenes in London, Varanasi, Toronto, Canada as well as scenes in Barcelona, Paris and other cities. He works directly from the subject, refusing to use a photographic reference. He graduated in Fine Art from Manchester Polytechnic 1990 and moved to Bath in 1993. He was elected a member of The New English Art Club in 1998 and became its President in 2018; he is also a member of The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Pastel Society and an Honorary Member of The Royal Society of British Artists. He has been represented by Messum's in Cork Street, London and also shows regularly at The Bath Victoria Art Gallery. In 2006 he became the first artist in residence at The Savoy Hotel, London and in 2008 won The Prince of Wales Award for portrait drawing. This picture was specially commissioned by The Bath resident Julia Marshman and was advertised in The Bath Chronicle 15th August 2019

Donald Wilkinson (British, 20th century), "Gathering Clouds Above a Lakeland Backdrop", signed and dated 1997, watercolour and pastel. 53 cm x 69 cm (see illustration). ARR CONDITION REPORT: The painting itself is in very good order with no condition issues that we can see. The colours are bright and strong with no discolouration. There are no scratches, tears or marks to the paper. The frame and glazing will be original. The card mount is a little discoloured as is the outer frame but not significantly.

In schnellen und flüchtigen Strichen skizziert der Künstler eine dichte Kneipenszene. In einer engen Figurenstaffage sieht man links im Bild einen Mann am Tisch sitzend und daneben steht eine Frau. An der Theke sitzt ein Mann mit gesenktem Kopf. Im Hintergrund die Bardame und diverse nicht detailliert ausgeführte Figuren. Die Köpfe der Männer - hoch-rot akzentuiert - geben einen Hinweis darauf, schon länger hier zu sitzen. Obwohl eine Kneipe ein geselliger Ort sein sollte, wirken die Figuren hier im blau-braunen Dunst der Lokalität einsam und allein. Jeder für sich. Man scheint sich nicht für den anderen zu interessieren. Man ist beschäftigt mit sich und dem eigenen Leid. Die gewählte Farbpalette der wässrig ineinander verlaufenden Aquarellfarben verdichtet die Kneipen-Atmosphäre und verstärkt den Eindruck des individuellen Leids, dem man sich als Betrachter nicht entziehen kann.
