An early to mid 19th Century tortoiseshell tea caddy Of architectural form, the eight sided vessel, applied with carved panels detailed with Gothic spires and Narthex doorways, set below bands of quatrefoil panels and raised on ball feet, the upper cover applied with an ivory flower bud finial, and further inlaid with ivory interior sides and internal integrated cover, 19cm high. CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1813: the tiered hinged top, top loose from hinge the cover bleached with the sun some of the in filled wire stringing lifted and proud to the surface, minor chip to one outer segment, two strips of ivory veneer missing to the underside of the cover, fitted internal liner, the frieze with the panels wirework divided line inlays, two sections raised and require re-fixing, some wire line inlays missing approximate length 1.4cm another 2.5cm a central piece of wirework 2.5cm the side panels all generally bleached with the sun the outer flange some pieces missing one triangular section measuring 1cm x 1cm a small section approximately 1cm x 0.75cm two minor pieces, spherical bun feet appear to be original, interior with silver paper lining generally reasonable, part of ivory missing to front of lock internal.
An early Victorian tea caddy Of sarcophagus form the hinged lid with a rectangular panel enclosing a red velvet lined interior and two detachable lids, one ring handle lacking raised upon compressed bun feet. 18x23x14cms. CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1827: the hinge cover the hinge is good, surface scratching to hinge cover, lined interior good condition, two covers each in good condition, wear to the silver foil interior lining, one roundel handle lacking surface finger scratching to the front, minor to the back, original compressed bun feet, some discolouration to the lozenge key aperture.
