Reasonable colour throughout. The beaded drawers have some minor faults and small repairs. Original brasses. Timber is slightly dry to the drawer fronts. The end panels with natural? splitting. The drawers are open and run freely. No key. With new drawer runners. Small veneer losses around the base and bracket feet. Some old decay underneath.

Some piece stamped with retailers name. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There are some bruises to the cartouches, they have possibly been erased. There are some cracks to the wood finials. The finial on the hot-water jug is differing and possibly replaced. The finial on the kettle is lacking the spacer. There is some wear to the marks, particularly those on the cover. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.

The base stamped with maker's name. There is some overall surface scratching and wear. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the gilding.

Contemporary silver caddy spoon with pierced floral design to the handle, by Rita Ferguson, Edinburgh, 1979, 19g, a white metal port bottle label 17g and a chromed metal five-bar toast rack. Rita Ferguson (Mrs Charles) was a silversmith based in Edinburgh, having a studio on York Place and then working from 214A Braid Road. Notably, she made the Edinburgh freedom of the city casket that was presented to Sir Winston Churchill. Provenance: by family descent.
