A blond tortoiseshell two division tea caddy, early 19th century, having a shaped front inlaid with mother of pearl flowers, the interior edges lined in ivory and with zinc lined compartments, 18.5 cm wide, 11.5 cm high, 11 cm deep (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The caddy is in generally good original condition. The top has a scuff and small loss to the centre rear panel. There are minor nibbles to the tortoiseshell on the points of the corners. The hinges are original and operate as they should. There is a loss to the tortoiseshell of about 0.5 cm square just above the right hand hinge. The front right and panel has a repair to the top right hand corner. There is a small nibble to the top left. The rear and side panels are in good condition. The plinth base has numerous small scuffs and nibbles, particularly on the left and right hand returns. There are no feet. The mother of pear appears principally intact.
A George III tortoiseshell tea caddy, early 19th century, the rectangular top with canted corners and inset to the centre with a white metal plaque engraved with a coronet with broken halberd, the interior with bowl and two lidded compartments, at the sides with lion mask and ring handles, width 34 cm, height 15 cm, depth 15 cm.
A George III oak longcase clock, with caddy top hood, orb and spike finials, and brass 30cm square arched dial having Royal crest to the arch, and applied spandrels, the silvered chapter ring signed Geoff Devis London, with Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary second ring and date aperture, revealing an eight day movement striking on a bell, with full length trunk door and moulded base, 240cm H overall.
