An unusual oak eight-day longcase timepiece Abraham Torn, Sheffield, mid 18th century The four-pillar movement with anchor escapement and 10.75 inch square single-sheet brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and curved applied plate signed Abraham Torn, Sheffield to centre within a Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes and plain spandrels to angles, the slender case with tall ogee caddy and integral pilasters to hood above long rectangular trunk door and plinth base with moulded skirt incorporating bracket feet, 220cm high.
