18th century Chinese export armorial teapot and cover, circa 1755, of globular form, painted in enamels with coat of arms of Lancaster impaling Griffin, with gilt chain borders and enamel floral sprigs to lid, 18.5cm. The Lancaster family lived at Crackhouse, Cumberland and Raynhill, Lancashire. The Griffins are from Northamptonshire, Braybrooke in Warwickshire and London - from whom descend Lord Braybrooke. This teapot and tea caddy was sold in The Henry Farnham Burke sale in 1913 for 4½ guineas.
