A scarce Ambrose Heal Spanish sweet chestnut caddy topped a chest of four long graduated drawers, early 20th century, the top with visible dovetail construction and the drawers with sunken compressed heart-shaped hand holds. Supported on stile ends with a slightly recessed front apron. The lock furniture is marked for Heal's and the rear edge of the top bears the stamped number 259(?) 76 cm overall width x 51 cm deep x 92 cm high.Private estateA sketch for a very similar example can be seen in Heal's design book produced in 1905.The chest has been later varnishedthe top drawer has a crack from a drawer stop failureThe bottom drawer has some minor damage to the front.The sides are jointed wide board construction and have parted slightly by approximately 1mm but this is just part and parcel of the ageing process of timber.No keys are present

Blue and white pot in the left hand side of the photo with a noticeable chip to the top rim and a smaller one to its base. Ginger jar back center previously broken and repaired. Small beaker with a crack to its base. Overall condition bar this appears to be good, with no obvious signs of major damage or repair.
