Very rare early Meissen tea set with gilt decoration of landscapes and hunting scenes, probably from the Augsburg workshop of Abraham Seuter, the decoration contemporaneous with the Bottger porcelain circa 1725. The service comprises a pear shaped tea pot with silver gilt mounts, the curved spout with gilt mask terminal, a coffee pot with silver gilt mounts with makers mark for Elias Adam, Augsburg, an oval sugar box and cover, a hexagonal tea caddy and cover and four tea bowls and saucers, all pieces except the tea caddy marked with the decorators initials LS to base. Note: a tea bowl and saucer marked SL was in the Pauls Eisenbass collection - see German Porcelain of the 18th century by Erica Pauls-Eisenbass, Barry & Jenkins (1972 p392), a similar hunting themed service was sold at Sotheby's 2003 Lot 9 the so-called Schimmerlmann service, and it is rare to find an almost complete service all with the same decorator's marks.
