The interior and countersunk base of densely sprinkled silver lacquer.HEIGHT 7.6 cmCondition: Excellent condition with minor wear.The wood storage box (tomobako) inscribed and signed Kojo no haru, sakura, chu-natsume, KOZEN saku ('A middle-sized natsume tea caddy, with the design of cheery blossoms at an old castle in spring, made by Kozen') with the seal KOZEN.Fushiyama Kozen (born c. 1940) is a Japanese Wajima-nuri lacquer artist in Ishikawa Prefecture. He graduated from the Art Department at the University of Seoul. In 1969, he studied lacquer art under Sato Teiichi (1899-1972). In 1971, he won a prize at the Nihon Dento Kogeiten (Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition).

Weight: 77 g (excl. the box) Dimensions: Height 7.5 cmSoetsu Nakamura, born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1932, learned the art of lacquering from his father in 1946 and dedicated himself to training. In 1967, he received tea ceremony instruction from Sowa Nakao. Nakamura obtained prestigious awards at the National Lacquerware Exhibition, including the Forestry Agency Commissioner's Award in 1979, the Governor's Award in 1982, and the Seishitsu Association Award in 1983. He has received numerous awards at national lacquerware exhibitions, and in 1987, he received the tea ceremony name Sokyo.
