A collection of wooden and leather boxes, to include mahogany tea caddy, hand painted lacquered box decorated with cockerels, two leather bound jewellery boxes, a rosewood mother of pearl inlaid jewellery box and a red lacquered tea caddy, together with three vintage wooden biscuit moulds, a pair of turned wooden finials and a wall mounted needlepoint towel rail (a lot)
A 19th century ebonised and boulle marquetry side cabinet, with caddy top, pair of glazed doors and with adjustable shelves and plinth base. Width 131 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top is in generally good order. It is not warped and has only minor scratches and marks as one would expect. All brasswork seems to have been stripped and cleaned and has a later lacquer finish. It looks as though there has been some repair to the black and coloured areas in places. This is most evident on the left hand return. The doors are not warped. There are no significant losses to the drawer fronts but the same comments apply as regards the frieze in terms of fairly recent cleaning. The cloth lining to the inside is poorly fixed and requires replacing. The two shelves have recently been cleaned. The plinth base has a loss to the bottom edge at one side approximately 2 cm square. The sides of the cabinet are brass strung and the stringing is intact.
A George III mahogany tea caddy, crossbanded and boxwood strung. Width 12.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a group of small polished indentations to the lid. There is a split to the veneer either side of the lid handle. Small patches of crossbanded veneer have been replaced to the rear left and right hand sides. The tips of the lock securing screws show through to the front although polished (visible either side of the escutcheon). The mounting of a small oval mirror to the interior of the lid is naively done. The interior has no zinc lining.
A George III Sheraton style inlaid satinwood tea caddy, with canted angles and shell medallions. Width 12.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The lid surface has a 3 cm veneer split from the crossbanded edge to the shell border. There is a fine 1.5 cm split either side of the left hand side inlaid panel. The front body has fine splits to either side of the inlay. The interior loose lid has no supports. The zinc lining is 90% intact although there are some blemishes. There are some minor splits by the hinges on the lid.
