A Georgian satinwood tea caddy of oval form, the lid adorned with an inlaid fan motif, carved to front and border of lid with flowing foliate decoration, the lid opening to reveal two compartmented interior, 13.5cm x 19cm x 11cm Condition Report: One small outter vaneer segment of the fan motif is missing, likewise a piece of vaneer is missing from the rear. . Lid is bowed at the front, with it not shutting flush. Inner rim is cracked. Lacking key. Several splits and assosiated losses at joins to the vaneer. Lining is lacking.

There is some wear to the marks but they are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points.

A GEORGE III RARE SILVER TEA CADDY, by Hester Batemen, London 1787, of oval form with beaded foot rim, the hinged domed cover surmounted by a detachable urn finial, the body with engraved bright-cut decoration of floral pendant swags with rosettes, between stylised rosette and ellipsis borders, to each side a vacant ellipsis cartouche, the lid with similar bright-cut engraved borders of harebells, the interior with a central silver divider. 14cm wide, 15 troy ouncesCONDITION REPORTMarks are clear and well struck. Cover struck with maker's mark and lion passant. Hinge in good order and lid closes well. Lock in place but no key. No signed of erasure. Some minor surface wear but generally in very good condition commensurate with age.
