Area of loss to the timber near the finial. Feet slightly misshapen preventing the piece from sitting square.

A FINELY CARVED 19th CENTURY SOUTH GERMAN IVORY, ANTLER AND BURR WOOD TEA CADDY/CASKET with a lift of lid mounted with a seated Stag above a stained ivory tusk body finely relief carved depicting Stags and Row Deer resting in a woodland setting; standing on three carved lions paw feet 12cm across 15cm highConditionIn good overall untouched condition, the deer on the lid has lost is antlers, the wooden top has two chips missing from the edge and a small crack. The ivory body is in good undamaged condition. The piece is very dirty.

The 12" shallow arched brass dial with strike/silent lever to the left-hand side, silvered chapter ring, crown and cherub spandrels, engraved arch and oval silvered name plaque; enclosing a matted centre with ringed winding holes, seconds dial and date aperture. Fronting an 8-day weight driven movement with five finned turned pillars, inner count wheel strike and striking the hours on a bell 244cm high.ConditionIn good condition, been restored in the last 20 years. The clock is in good working condition but would benefit from a clean. The bottom half of the base is later, the backboard has a replaced piece at the base. There is a small piece of moulding which has lifted on the hood.
