Height 21.5 cm, depth 13.5 cm. length 11 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Structurally sound. There is a very small blemish/varnish chip to the bottom centre of the lid. The right hand side of the lid does sit flush to the base. There are very small chips to the varnish on the right hand side of the lid. There is a small repair to the rear right hand edge. There is a small repair to the rear left hand edge in the centre. The latter repair is almost visible to the naked eye. There is a repair to the front right hand centre edge. A Chinese export lacquered shaped tea caddy, with pewter lined interior, width 23 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: As you can see from our image a large proportion of the gilding to the lid is rubbed and missing. There are numerous scuffs, marks and losses to the lacquer particularly around the lock fittings and hinges. The rear hinge is a little loose and there is damage to the area surrounding the hinges. The main body of the casket has cracks down two of the seams. These are to either side of the hinge panel where there has been a break. The interior lidded compartments have some minor dints but are in generally good condition and complete with their lids and interior lids.
A George III mahogany caddy, boxwood and ebony strung with brass feet and handle. Width 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Upon first appearance this is a rather attractive looking caddy. There is a 5.5 cm replacement strip of moulding to the base of the lid at the front right this has been done for quite some time and is quite well matched in. On the underside of the caddy there are woodworm holes in the boxwood on the front and right hand side. There is a single woodworm hole on the rear. On the right hand side there is an open section of woodworm which is also visible when viewed from the side. The underside bottom right hand corner has splits issuing from the feet screw holes. The interior of the lid is missing its baize, as is the interior rear section of the body. There are no zinc liners, however, there are two indents to the lid that would confirm that there have been liners at some stage. The interior lock is missing. There is a patch repair to the lock on the lid with five screw holes.
