A FINE EARLY 18th CENTURY BURR WALNUT MUSICAL LONGCASE CLOCK WITH SPHERICAL MOON the geometrical inlaid case having a bell top style caddy with pierced sound frets above an arched glazed door flanked by canted corners columns with ormolu corinthian mounts, the trunk having matching canted corners and shaped moulded door with ormolu mounted lenticle on double ogee moulded plinth base with paw feet, the 14.25" brass dial having a silvered engraved chapter ring surrounding a matted center with subsidiary seconds dial and day/date apertures with painted signs of the zodiac, two subsidiary dials above the chapter ring for age of moon and music selection below a large painted arch depicting a classical semi-nude scene with rotating spherical moon to the sky, fronting a massive eight-day weight driven movement playing twelve tunes on fifteen bells and 28 hammers, the lever to the right of the dial dampens the bells and the lever to the left is a stike/chimes/silent selector, the clock strikes the hour and plays music on the hour, passing strike on the quarters, strikes a higher note bell at half-past and plays a diferent tune, the chime section is changed aotomatically between 5 & 7 every morning 300cm high including finials - comes with original brass cased weights and pendulum.
