Lot 1

An early 19th century tortoiseshell dome topped tea caddy with pewter stringing, and two tortoiseshell veneered lids (for restoration), width 15cm. CONDITION REPORT: The reverse of the lid has an area of approximately 4 x 1.5cm of repair to one hinge, there is also a small section of veneer missing beneath the hinge, the other section has a 5 x 1.5cm section of both veneer and timber missing where the hinge has broken, there is also a small repair above this. We have two feet present at the moment and we have three additional feet to the interior of the caddy which are larger than the ones present. There is also a corner of one of the lids which has been repaired and the further corners show pin head sized lacks in the tortoiseshell. The ivory platforms to the top of the base section and underside of the lid also shows signs of staining and wearing.
