A NICOLE FRERES MUSICAL BOX the case having inlay to the rosewood lid in various woods, depicting a Classical head surrounded by decoration, with satinwood crossbanding and boxwood, the 9¼ inch ‘fat’ cylinder allows for two tunes per revolution and therefore allowing better quality in the playing, having a winding lever to one side and three levers to the other for ‘stop/start’ and ‘change/repeat’ and ‘stop’ and stamped ‘Nicole Freres a Geneve’ on the brass bed along with the serial number ‘41439’, the tune sheet lists the ten airs along with the gamme number ‘2021’ (this being the maker’s index number for tuning the comb) and the wording Fabrique de Nicole Freres, 41439’ a further label gives the retailer as ‘Imhof & Mukle, 110, New Oxford Street, London’ whilst another label gives them as importers at 547, Oxford Street, height 15cm, width 46cm
AN UPRIGHT WALNUT POLYPHON playing 19 inch interchangeable metal discs, with a crank wound movement and coin slots either side with signs stamped ‘Drop a Penny in the Slot’, the walnut case having a decorative pediment to the top with shell decoration and turned pillars, with applied turned pillars to the front door which has wood frets to the top corners and an arched glass front above, in which is set the name ‘Polyphon’ with a bone plaque to the bottom of the door stamped with the retailer’s name ‘T. Rhodes and Sons Ltd., 18 Silver Street, Halifax’, under which is a lockable drawer for collecting the coins, complete with twenty discs, German, Circa 1870, height 128cm.

An 18th century Meissen porcelain figure of a street vendor, playing a hurdy-gurdy, from the 'Cris de Paris' series modelled by J. J. Kandler and P. Reinicke, raised on rococo scroll base, decorated in coloured enamels and gilding, circa 1756, crossed swords in underglaze blue, impressed numerals 27, small chip to underside of hat, the right boot a 19th century wooden replacement, 5 1/2in high.
FRANK GRESLEY. Picking Flowers in a Meadow beside The Trent; Children Playing on a Winding Path Swarkestone Church Beyond, a pair, both signed, pencil and watercolour heightened with white, 18 x 27cm (2) . Both in excellent condition, the colours well preserved and free from fading or foxing, in modern frames which are also in good condition.
A Derby group of "Music', the classical young woman playing the flute and wearing a puce flowered turquoise chiton, a tambourine and scroll resting on a marbled pillar to her side and with two putti in attendance, on a sprigged rocky green mound, 26cm h, William Duesbury & Co incised 217, patch marks, c1780 . Some typical firing cracks in the base and another in the upper part of the leg of the principal figure, some old discoloured restoration to the young woman's hands and the upper part of the body of the reclining child. One bell missing from the edge of the tambourine, an extending firing crack near the base of the pillar, the standing child's right arm broken and partially re-built but now heavily discoloured. No "professional' restoration
