Given by Charles II to a high rank figure on the occasion of his accession to the throne of Parma in 1848, at the death of the former Empress Marie Louise, according to what had been stipulated by the Congress of Vienna. length 97.5 cm.

dating: Late 18th - Early 19th Century provenance: Naples, Flat plate, with oblique and shaped borders . Tang with little angel engraved among floral decorations. The plate with frames and curls all over the edge. A the center the signature 'GUZZI' inside a cartouche. The rein is carved in-the-round with a high-relieved small angel straddling a gryphon. The base worked in high-relief with another angel, emerging from leaves and buds. The jaws engraved with frames and with floral carvings, the upper one with relieved lily. The typical curl of the spring of these locks are made in high relief; the outline od the spring with carvings. The pan with a high-relief angel surrounded by leaves. The back of the batterie depicting a relieved baby playing with a small dog and a bird. Other elements with carved and engraved leaves. A work of extremely good quality made by the gunlock-maker Guzzi; very few of his works are known. For Guzzi (the name is not well-known) see 'Repertorio Storico degli Archibugiari Italiani' by Barbiroli, pag. 310: gunlock-maker from Neaples, late 18th / beginning of 19th century; he is known for a lock on a 1790 circa rifle. length plate 14,7 cm.

dating: circa 1800 provenance: Northern Central Italy, Flat plate with oblique borders. Recessed tang, depicting a devil playing a horn, an elegant portraying and old-fashioned warrior, holding a short sword on one hand and stopping a dragon with the other, the dragon becomes a decoration with racemes towards the right side of the plate. The hammer shaped as a swan's neck, the screw covering with an engraved rosette and a fine dragon. Outlined and faceted pan. Interesting batterie with pan cover integrated in the batterie itself, yet articulated separately, provided with a hinge and a spring on the inner side of the plate. This way, the batterie can be raised keeping the pan lowered or the two elements can be moved together. A beautiful, relieved mask at the back of the batterie hides a fastener to attach or detach the pan. The inner part of the plate is very beautiful, the snap and the mechanisms finely engraved as eagle's heads. Featuring the signature 'MV' in italics and (probably) dated 'J800'. A lock with an interesting and very scarce mechanisms, as well decorations of high quality, surely made by a Master. length plate 15 cm.

A good Bamboo 'Seven Sages' brush vase, bitong, Qing Dynasty, deeply carved around the cylindrical exterior to depict a continuous scene of the 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove' engaged in various leisurely pursuits including painting seated under the shade of pine trees, in conversation, observing the landscape, and playing a game of weiqi, in a distant opening in a bamboo grove, the Sages are accompanied by young attendants, two of whom are portrayed playfully climbing up bamboo trees, all in a rocky landscape setting, apocryphal inscription of Zhu Sansong, the mouth and foot rims are mounted with hardwood, 16cm high x 14cm wide Provenance: By repute purchased by the current owner in Hong Kong around 2010. The 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Groove' were a group of 3rd century scholars who rejected official duties in favour of rustic life, and often gathered in a bamboo groove to drink wine and to discuss art and literature. This helmet is modelled after the one worn by Damon in the movie, playing Watney, an astronaut stranded on Mars. It is made primarily of resin with a clear acrylic visor. There are two faux cameras, one on each side of the head, and Watney's name and the NASA logo adorn the back. The helmet has been intentionally distressed to look well used on the Martian surface, and has some additional wear from use and storage, including scuffs and scratches.
