Rogers' original painting is housed in The British Folk Art Collection, Compton Verney, Warwickshire. The collection can be seen online, where the following information is given about the work in question: "Rogers’ intimate painting depicts a keeper sitting uneasily with a lion, tiger and three liger cubs in a travelling cage. Ligers are the offspring of lions and tigers, and were in several travelling menageries recorded at this time. The picture may recall Atkins’s Royal Menagerie, in which a liger was born in October 1824 while the menagerie was visiting Windsor; the cub was duly presented to King George IV." Our copyist chose to show only the left-hand side of Rogers' work, without the right-hand side of the cage and the additional two liger cubs.

Catherine Hall (b.1946), Anna Karen (1936) and seven other unidentified autographs. Anna Karen (1936) is a retired British film, television and theatre actress. A regular in soaps and comedy, her bestknown roles are as Olive in the sitcoms On the Buses and The Rag Trade and as Aunt Sal in EastEnders on a recurring basis. Catherine Hall (b.1946) is a British actress, known for playing Rothwyn in Sapphire and Steel (1979) and A Christmas carol (1984) as well as roles in shows like The Bill, Juliet Bravo and Bergerac. Also included are seven other unidentified autographs (Please see photographs for details). These autographs were obtained from around the various theatres and restaurants of London's West End during the early to mid1980s. Good condition. George Formby (1904 1961) English actor, singer, songwriter, film star, radio star and comedian. George Formby was the stage name of George Hoy Booth OBE. He started his career as a jockey before moving on to the music halls of the 1920s and had become a major star by the late 1930s. He toured all over the world with ENSA entertaining the troops during World War Two and it is estimated that he performed to 3 million service personnel during this conflict. He acted in over twenty popular films and released several hundred records. Playing the ukulele and acting the loveable fool earned him the nickname "the beloved imbecile". Jack Warner (1895 1981) British film and TV actor best known for playing Policeman George Dixon in the long running TV series Dixon of Dock Green between 1955 and 1976. He was a driver for the Royal Flying Corp during the First World War and started performing in the music halls of the 1930s before moving to radio. He made his film debut in The Dummy Talks in 1943 and made a number of films including The Lady Killers (1955) before taking up the role of Dixon of Dock Green for which he will be most remembered. Jack Warner was his stage name, Horace John Waters being his birth name and he was awarded an OBE in 1965. A large black and white vintage photograph featuring six scenes from Dixon of Dock Green with a typed letter on the reverse of the photograph signed by Jack Warner, approximately 8.25 inches x 6.25 inches. The letter is dated 29th June 1959 to Stephen thanking him for his recent letter, agreeing that he will also miss Bob Penny and that filming of the new series of Dixon of Dock green starts on 12th September. Kenny Ball (1930 2013), John Bennett (b.1936) and Peter Rudeforth (b.1957) When Kenny Ball and John Bennett cofounded a trad jazz band back in 1958, little did they know that more than 50 years later they would still be recording together. Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, with Kenny playing trumpet and John on trombone, had a string of hits during the 1960s including 'Midnight in Moscow', which sold over one million copies and earned gold disc status. The son of an Irish father and an English mother, Milligan was born in India, where he spent his childhood, relocating to live and work the majority of his life in the United Kingdom. Milligan was the cocreator, main writer and a principal cast member of the British radio programme The Goon Show, performing a range of roles including the Eccles and Minnie Bannister characters. He was the earliestborn and last surviving member of The Goons. Milligan parlayed success with the Goon Show into television with Q5, a surreal sketch show credited as a major influence on the members of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Milligan wrote and edited many books, including Puckoon (1963) and a sevenvolume autobiographical account of his time serving during the World War Two, beginning with Adolf Hitler: My Part in His Downfall (1971). He also wrote comical verse, with much of his poetry written for children, including Silly verse for Kids (1959). Sir Harry Secombe (1921 2001) was a Welsh comedian, actor and singer. Secombe was a member of the British radio comedy programme The Goon Show, playing many characters, but most notably, Neddie Seagoon. An accomplished tenor, he also appeared in musicals and films, notably as Mr. Bumble in Oliver (1968) and, in his later years, was a presenter of television shows incorporating hymns and other devotional songs.
