Edward apologises to his correspondent 'I do feel so terribly badly over not having answered you two letters before… I most certainly will attend the Amateur Boxing Assn. meeting in aid of that most admirable organisation.' Continuing 'The Pro Patria Day Nurseries I just don't dare refuse… I may be breaking into the rules my unfortunate Private Secretary has laid down (on my behalf) re charitable entertainments… I'm getting a bit afraid of both you & Fredie so that if you will suggest some dates in Oct (not Saturdays) I will be right along. Thank goodness Fredie is returning to London this week - I was twice at Le Touquet but it will be good to have her back again.' A FINE QUALITY MIRROR PAIR OF EARLY 20TH CENTURY CHINESE REPUBLIC PERIOD MILLEFLEUR PORCELAIN VASES, together with later fitted wood stands, each well painted with two quatrefoil panels of boys playing in garden settings, the panels reserved on a ground of dense overlapping flowerheads and leafage, each base with a Qianlong seal mark, each vase itself 9in high.

A French Empire mantel clock, the 10 cm diameter dial signed LS. Mallet and H. DE M. D. D'ORLEANS, N 794, with Roman numeral, fitted an eight day movement striking on a bell, in an ormolu case, the base surmounted a female figure holding a mask and playing a tambourine, the clock surmounted a winged helmet and musical instruments, the base decorated a facemask and foliage on a plinth, 31 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by GHSome damage to the enamel around the right hand winder. Enamel also scratched across the middle and with a small hairline crack to the top left. Otherwise case generally a little grubby but in good condition.Movement untested but appears to be in good, clean condition and appears complete. No key. Measurement across the dial including the bezel is 13 cm.
