A good pencil Sketch of Robert Gregory (son of Lady Gregory), reading, or perhaps playing cards, signed with his monogram, titled and dated 1908, 3 ¼ ins x 4 ½ ins, mounted.* Robert Gregory was Lady Gregory's only son, and the heir to Coole House, where Jack and Cottie were welcome guests. He joined the British Air Force, and died over Italy early in 1918, apparently shot down in error by an Italian plane. W.B. Yeats wrote several celebrated poems in his memory. Chiappa & Sons, of Clerkenwell, London,25-key format, with oak keyframe, playing 10 airs, two ranks of wood pipes, in superb multi-fruitwood and stained coloured fruitwood inlaid veneered cabinet, with front panel having a hunt chase study to centre, triple red silk sound fret panels, full maker’s name and address below, an abundance of intricate floral inlay, on bracket feet with campaign metal clasp corner mounts, with one barrel and the period crank, of very loud volume and good tuning – 22.1/4” wide, 21.1/2” high.
