EVERTON 1889 Everton matchcard v Notts Rangers, 4/5/1889, definitely an original matchcard and not a replica, professionally repaired along folds where previously it had split, includes fixture list and scores for the season, the first ever Football League season and Everton were a founder member of the Football League. This game was an end of season friendly, Everton playing eight games in 25 days in May having played 12 games in April. Interesting to note that there was a referee and two umpires. ALEX FINNEY/BOLTON A collection of various items belonging to Alex Finney who made 483 appearances for Bolton between 1922 and 1935 playing in the 1923 and 1929 FA Cup Finals unfortunately missing the 1926 Final through injury. The lot includes a Union Jack flag believed to have been brought home from Wembley by Finney following the 1923 Final, A copy of the Topical Times dated 28th April 1923, which was a Special FA Cup Final Issue (Cover distressed) plus a collection of photos (some Press Photos) of Finney with team mates prior to the 1923 FA Cup Final, some showing the massive crowds at Wembley Stadium and some family photos. Also include is a signed photo of Band Leader Jack Hylton who presented it with a personal note to Finney following the 1929 Final. Comes with a copy of the Bolton Evening News 18th June 1977 which contains an article on Finney. Some faults as described but mostly fair to generally good
