Conta and Boehme Pair of Child Musician Matchbox Holder Figures, both boy and girl dressed in a pastiche of adult late 18th century costume, the girl playing a hurdy-gurdy, the boy a primitive fiddle; behind each figure is a receptacle shaped to hold a box of safety matches, rather than the matches which had to be struck along a specially ridged part of the base or side, safety matches having been introduced by the mid 19th century; 8.25 inches high; green Conta and Boehme shield marks to undersides; a particularly well made and hand decorated pair of figures from this factory with the unusual matchbox features

Disney Interest 1930's Ceramic Lustreware Child's Teaset A rare late 20's/early 30's tea set marked 'Made In Japan' to undersides. Rare 15 piece tea set in fine lustre with cream pearl ground and sage green lustre trim, comprises four cups, saucers and charger sets, milk jug, sugar bowl and teapot. The cups depict an early rendering of Pluto the dog, a small green duck at his feet. Chargers and teapot depict Mickey mouse playing a red saxophone with musical notes and dancing duck. Handpainted, very good condition.

An Important Edwardian silver ewer with presentation inscription of military interest, Elkington & Sons, Birmingham, 1909In the manner of the Aesthetic movement with gadroon rim beneath spout with twin serpents emerging from palm leaves handle above circular body profusely chased with intertwining trees with an eagle hunting birds, a snake coiled around a branch and parrot perched on one, the large central medallions on both sides chased with mythological figures; possibly that of Apollo bound to a laurel tree surrounded by fighting lions and an eagle feasting on an antelope; the opposite side with a figure playing a lyre surrounded by wild animals possibly symbolising Artemis (sister of Apollo), the entire surmounted on central section chased on one side with a snake with a bird and a crane on the other flanked by two eagles cast in high relief all above pond reeds, sitting above a circular pond like base chased with frogs, lily pads and foliage within a band of rocaille and oak leaves, on four tortoise feet, the inside engraved with the following: PRESENTED TO LT. COL. MITCHELL. V.D. ON HIS RETIREMENT BY THE OFFICERS OF THE 5TH YORK & LANC. REGT. 1914. beneath coronet, crest and motto, 51 cm high, 4368 grams, in original Elkington stamped fitted wooden case.Provenance:Lt Col T W H Mitchell and thence by descent
