There is tension in the spring but it feels as though it is broken slipping after a few winds of the handle. The mechanism does run. Fourth tooth from the right with the very tip missing.

Property of an American lady living in Arizona, USA. Huang Zhou (1925–1997), was actively involved in the art of the People's Liberation Army under which he became a staff painter at the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution. In 1981, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting. He was also a social activist who made outstanding contributions to the preservation and promotion of national art and to the advancement of public art education. [No Reserve]

CONDITION REPORT: Lot 1827 - The hinged ebonised cover, shrinkage crack running left to right through lithograph, surface scratching to lithograph, lithograph angles and the general surface, Symphonion label crack to paper reflecting the stress crack, hinges good condition, damage to one key on the left hand comb right hand side, working order.
