JOHNNY YOUNG - WORRIED MAN BLUES (ORA NELLE 712) - A lovely copy of Johnny 'Man' Young's Worried Man Blues b/w Money Taking Woman (original US 78RPM recording on Ora Nelle 712). The record is in neat E condition with just a little fading to the playing surfaces, this is not a major feature and elsewhere there are only a couple of very light and minor surface markings. The labels are lovely and clean. Johnny was one of the first of the 'new generation' of electric blues artists to record in Chicago after the Second World War.

Lot 24

RONNIE SCOTT & TUBBY HAYES - THE COURIERS OF JAZZ! - The original UK pressing of the ensemble that Tony Hall said "their individual and collective playing and conception gave me such immeasurable pleasure". Released on London (American Jazz Recordings LTZ-L-15188). The deep grooved label LP is in glossy Ex condition with a couple of light and minor hairline markings with some spindle markings. Lot 45

INTRODUCING LEROY VINNEGAR - Wonderful pack of 2 x wicked LPs featuring Leroy Vinnegar and then Teddy Edwards. Titles are Glass Of Water (Legend LGS-1001 - clean Ex with only a little 'fading' to the playing surface/Ex light residue from a sticker on the front, not a tear) and Teddy Edwards Quartet - Teddy's Ready! (scarce UK Contemporary original LAC 12275 - Ex+ superb condition record/Ex very light laminate wear on the front, this album contains a quite brill version of Billy Strayhorn's 'Take The A Train'...)

Lot 47

THE ROY HAYNES TRIO - JUST US (ESQUIRE 32-163) - A really fine original UK pressing on Esquire of this outstanding LP. Eddie De Haas (bass) says of Haynes: "He's always fresh.... He's always intense about his playing. I don't mean that he's not relaxed, but he's always stirring things up." The record is in superlative Ex+ condition with perhaps just a couple of very faint markings running with the groove on side 2. The sleeve is in Ex+ condition with a little laminate wear and (again, very light) discolouration on the reverse. These Esquire LPs may have a 'flat edge' but there's certainly nothing flat about the music!

Lot 50

GENE AMMONS ALL STARS - FUNKY (UK ESQUIRE 32-077) - Getting in the jam with Gene Ammons with his All Stars! The title doth not deceive you, we have Art Farmer on the horns, Jackie McLean on alto sax, the slick skills of Kenny Burrell on guitar, Mal Waldron on keys, Doug Watkins on bass and Art Taylor on drums! To top it all off there's also the matter of the super 'funky' Ralph Steadman designed sleeve, a piece of art in its own right. The record is in Ex+ condition with perhaps just some slight 'shadowing' to the playing surface, maybe due to the inner sleeve being poly-lined. The sleeve is in Ex condition with a couple of very small scuffs on the top/bottom on the front.

Lot 81

JOE TURNER - PRESENTING - Beautifully clean and glossy Tri-Centre copy of Presenting Joe Turner on London (UK, London, EP RE-E. 1111.)
