A 19th century Swiss music box, playing 8 airs, possibly Nicole Freres, rosewood veneered, strung and crossbanded, inlaid to the lid with two birds amongst flowers, ebonised edges and base, song card to inside lid 'Fabrique de Geneve', with glass hinged cover over the movement, the movement stamped '1644' '45', cylinder inscribed '1644' and 'G416', some pencil marks to base, in very good fully restored condition, 63 by 24 by 20.5cm high.

A group of three Japanese Satsuma pottery miniature vases, Meiji period, together with a later Satsuma bowl, comprising one of squat baluster form, decorated with fourteen figures playing various outdoor games including flying a kite and spinning tops, gilt signature seal mark to base, 7.8 by 9.0cm high, a mallet form vase with knopped neck, decorated with six roundels of flowers and mythical beasts, red, black and gilt painted six character mark to base, 4.9 by 9.5cm high, a circular bowl decorated internally with two figures by a lake and hills, externally with trailing purple wisteria, two character mark to base, possibly Hakuzan, 8.4 by 4.3cm high, and a bowl with squared rim, decorated internally with fifteen seated figures, one reading a scroll, and a dragon, further figures to the outside, marked to base, 17.5 by 8.5cm. Parker Young Esq: Chairman of St Mary's Burial Ground Improvement Committee UPON THE OCCASION OF THE PUBLIC OPENING OF THE GROUND AS AN ORNAMENTAL GARDEN APRIL 23RD 1885, FRANK DETHRIDGE, VESTRY CLERK', with makers stamp to the reverse and with lotus and leaf carved ebony shaft and handle with foliate engraved silver-plated mounts, 87.5cm long (Qty: 1)NOTESFrank Dethridge was Vestry Clerk of Paddington for 40 years and the first Town Clerk of the new Borough of Paddington when it was formed in 1900. He was a well-known figure at The Reform Club and stood as Liberal M.P. for Hammersmith in 1885. During his career he suggested the average gas meter system and promoted the purchase of Ravenscourt Park as a public park. After retiring he resided in Brighton where he suffered a stroke while playing billiards on New Year's Day 1911 and died immediately. He is commemorated in Highgate Cemetery, London.
