Ivor Allchurch's No.10 jersey worn in Wales's first-ever match at a World Cup Finals tournament v Hungary at Jernvallen Stadium, Sandviken, Sweden, 8th June 1958, short-sleeved Worn by the Swansea Town inside-forward Ivor Allchurch in the historic match for Welsh football. The game against the previous World Cup runners-up Hungary ended as a 1-1 draw with John Charles scoring Wales's first World Cup goal. The World Cup shirts worn by Wales did not carry any details of the opponents above the badge or details of the competition. Allchurch kept the opening match shirt as a souvenir and in fact regularly wore it as a leisure shirt in later years. Ivor Allchurch (1929-1997) played in 68 international matches for Wales between 1950 and 1966, scoring 23 goals. After the 1958 World Cup he moved to Newcastle United and then in 1962 to Cardiff City before finishing his playing career back at Swansea Town, retiring in 1968.

The medal is uninscribed to an individual player.

Cup final v Sheffield United at Wembley Stadium 25th April 1925, Welsh Sports Ltd., Church St., Cardiff, long-sleeved, with embroidered silkwork badge bearing the Coat of Arms of Cardiff and the motto DEFFRO-MAE'N-DDYDD, Y-DDRAIG-GOCH-DDYRY-GYCHWYN In 1925 Cardiff City became the first team outside of England since Queen's Park in 1885 to play in a F.A. Cup Final. The Bluebirds lost 1-0 to Tunstall's goal for Sheffield United but would turn around their fortunes two seasons later beating Arsenal in the 1927 final. Joe Nicholson( 1898-1974) was an Englishman hailing from Ryhope in the north-east. He joined Cardiff City from Clapton Orient in 1924 initially as a right-half. However he took up centre-forward duties as a replacement for the injured Len Davies and his performances, including a goal in the semi-final, helped the Welsh club reach the final. At the end of the 1925-26 season he left in a swap deal with Aston Viila's George Blacburn, but played only one competitive match with the Birmingham side as a serious injury forced Nicholson into playing at non-League level.

Peter Marinello's winner's presentation for the 1970 FAIRS Cup, in the form of a continental miniature silver plated replica of the Trophee Noel Beard, inscribed COUPE d'EUROPE DES FOIRES, TROPHEE NOEL BEARD, VAINQUEUR 1970, 28TH APRIL 1970, P. MARINELLO, fitted on an ebonised base, height 17cm., 6 1/2in. In the 1970 Fairs Cup Final, Arsenal beat RSC Anderlecht 4-3 on aggregate to win their first European trophy. Peter Storey's trophy sold in these rooms 7th May 2008 for £6,500. Peter Marinello joined Arsenal from Hibs in 1970 for a then record club fee of £100,000 and was dubbed the “new George Best” by the British press scoring on his debut at Old Trafford. However, he never managed to concrete his place in the first-team, left Highbury in 973 and playing for a plethora of other sides before his retirement in 1984.
A 15ct. gold and enamel Yorkshire County Cup rugby medal awarded to Tom Broadley, the obverse inscribed YORKSHIRE COUNTY (NORTHERN) FOOTBALL UNION, the reverse inscribed NORTHERN RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION, COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP, 1898, T BROADLEY, BRADFORD, FORWARD, later mounted in gold brooch & chain fitting Tom Broadley began his rugby in Union with Bingley and was capped for England six times between 1893 and 1896. He switched to League playing for Bradford. Broadley features in the celebrated painting of the Roses Game by W B Woollen, and sold in this lot is a Yorkshire Rugby Union Centenary 1869-1969 brochure which has the painting reproduced on the front cover (2)
An unusual Victorian glass wine decanter engraved to the body with a lawn tennis scene, portraying an elegant Victorian lady playing a shot and a gentleman standing at the net in the centre of the court, of tapering form, surmounted with a silver-plated, lidded pourer and handle, star-cut to the base, the pourer is modelled with grape vines, height 32cm., 12 1/2in.

He also designed the award-winning Scottish Historical Playing Cards (1975). His commissions include illustrating The Colour of Black & White; Poems 1984-2003 by Liz Lochhead (2003) and The Field of Thistles by Monica Clough (1983), designing a 100 foot long mural for the Exhibition Centre Station in Glasgow (1988) and 40 banners for Union Street Bi-Centenary in Aberdeen (1994) in association with Peacock Printmakers. Rodger has works in public and private collections worldwide.

There are many cricketer autographs around the border of the photograph (circa 36), including Dickie Bird, Richie Benaud, Statham, Trueman, Barry Richards, Atherton, Hick, D'Oliveira, Graveney, Lillee, Thomson, Underwood, Gough, Botham, Gower, Agnew, Cronje and Clive Lloyd. DUNCAN EDWARDS Magnificent large photograph of Duncan which is very tastefully mounted. The photograph (black and white) shows Duncan signing an autograph for a youngster on the Highbury pitch before playing his last match for United on English soil before the Munich Air Disaster . United went on to beat Arsenal 5-4 in the game, 1/2/58 and the famous clock shows the time to be five minutes to three. This photograph measures 51cm x 60cm including the mount and is ready for framing. Edwards scored in the game and there is an inscription below the photograph reading "February 1st 1958 Highbury Arsenal 4 Manchester United 5 Duncan Edwards Manchester United". Very good
A Swiss lever wind music box, with 9 cm comb, playing eight airs, in a painted beech case, retailed by B H A Ste Croix, Switzerland, 40 cm wide Condition report Report by GH Chips and scratches to top. Some loss to monogram. Woodworm holes scattered along all four sides of the box. Internal paper to the underside of the lid present. One piece ripped off the top right hand corner. The musical movement works.
