The following six lots have been consigned to auction by the family of George Brown. Medals - 1923-4, 24-5, and 25-6, The Football League Championship Division One Winners Medals To George Brown of Huddersfield Town. All three in 9ct gold by Vaughton and Sons, bearing Birmingham hallmarks, '9', '375' and engraved with player name, club and year to back, suspension loop to top, all loosely attached to gold link chain. On completion of their title win in 1926 Huddersfield Town became the first team to win the Football League for a third time in succession. Capped by England and nicknamed 'Bomber', George Brown was born in the tiny mining village of Mickley, South Northumberland in 1903. He became a miner and played for Mickley juniors, his appearances for them had been noted by Huddersfield and the then manager Herbert Chapman travelled up to the north east to sign the 17 year old Brown up on professional forms. George made the first team in 1921, playing at either centre forward or inside right, in the third of Huddersfield's championship winning seasons George netted 35 league goals, to equal the most ever scored by a Huddersfield player in a season, he had a great career at Huddersfield before transferring to Aston Villa for purportedly £5000 in 1929, then subsequently to Burnley in 1934, who paid £1400 for his services, then to Leeds in 1935 for £3100, in 1936 he moved to Darlington as player manager before retiring two years later to take over a pub in Birmingham. As the years passed George became paralysed, ultimately resulting in his death in 1949, a tragic end to a fine sportsman. *Provenance as a historical memoir written by a member of the family, together with newspaper cuttings, Arsenal 1931 dinner invitation card for Brown as a runner up for Villa against Arsenal in the league campaign, photos of him in England kit, postcards of him at Huddersfield, many other interesting snippets. June Whitfield 10x8 signed colour photo. Dame June Rosemary Whitfield, DBE (born 11 November 1925) is an English actress. Her first big break was a lead role in the radio comedy Take It From Here from 1953. Television soon followed, including appearances with Tony Hancock throughout his television career. In 1966, Whitfield played the leading role in the television sitcom Beggar My Neighbour which ran for three series. She was also in four Carry On films: Nurse, Abroad, Girls and Columbus. In 1968, June Whitfield and Terry Scott began their long television partnership, which peaked with roles as husband and wife in Happy Ever After (1974-78) and Terry and June (1979-87). Since 1992, Whitfield has appeared in Jennifer Saunders's sitcom Absolutely Fabulous playing Edina Monsoon's mother. Gordon Alec Hill (born 1 April 1954) is an English former footballer who played in the Football League for Millwall, Manchester United, Derby County and Queens Park Rangers, and was capped six times for the England national team. In 1971, Hill began his club career with Staines Town of the Athenian League as a 17-year-old. In 1972, he moved to Southall F. C., playing a few youth games there while his brother was on trial at the club. He drew the attention of Millwall F. C. and signed with them in 1973. Known to The Lions fans as 'Merlin', Hill had outstanding skill that earned him wide recognition. The Millwall youngster entertained the fans with high-class shooting and dribbling and it was not long before scouts from big clubs noticed him. He played 91 league games for Millwall, scoring 22 goals. After spending the summer of 1975 on loan with the North American Soccer League's Chicago Sting, and being named All League, Hill subsequently signed for Manchester United in November 1975 for £70,000, a bargain for manager Tommy Docherty, forming a wing partnership with Steve Coppell. His career included periods playing for and later managing the England national team. Robson's professional playing career as an inside forward spanned nearly 20 years, during which he played for three clubs: Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, and, briefly, Vancouver Royals. He also made 20 appearances for England, scoring four goals. After his playing career, he found success as both a club and international manager, winning league championships in both the Netherlands and Portugal, earning trophies in England and Spain, and taking England to the semi-final of the 1990 FIFA World Cup, which remains the national team's best run in a World Cup since 1966. Football Kenny Morgans 8x6 signed B/W photo playing for Manchester United. Kenneth Godfrey Morgans (16 March 1939 - 18 November 2012) was a Welsh footballer. Born in Swansea, he signed for Manchester United on leaving school in the summer of 1955 and played on the youth team's outside-right position. He turned professional in 1956 but continued to play for the youth team until the following year and was captain of the FA Youth Cup winning team in 1957. He made his first team debut on 21 December 1957, aged 18, against Leicester City in a league match at Old Trafford, and was soon the club's first-choice outside-right, at the expense of the older and more experienced Johnny Berry. He suffered minor injuries in the Munich air disaster on 6 February 1958, when still only 18 years old. He was the youngest player involved in the crash and the last survivor to be rescued from the mangled wreckage of the BEA Elizabethan airliner after he was found unconscious amongst the debris by two journalists five hours after the official search was called off. He had played in the last match before the disaster, the European Cup quarter-final second leg against Red Star Belgrade and had so far made 10 senior appearances for United. Although he made a full recovery following the crash and was back in the side before the end of the season, playing a further nine games, he showed little of his previous form on the pitch, and made just four appearances for the first team over the next three seasons. Having begun his career at Issia Wazi, Bony moved to Sparta Prague in 2007, helping them to the Czech First League title in 2009-10. In January 2011, he was signed by Dutch club Vitesse, where he was the top scorer in the Eredivisie in 2012-13, leading to a £12 million transfer to Premier League club Swansea City.
