He thanks Ryland for his note, but does not think that he need trouble him before he goes to Birmingham. mentioning his son Charley who ". . . wishes me to report that he passed his short holiday from Barings, in rowing and playing cricket-matches". Published in the Pilgrim Edition of the Letters of Charles Dickens. With a copy of a letter from the publishers (1975); an article about it by Professor R. D. McMaster of the University of Alberta, and a transcript.
