λ A FINE JAPANESE GOLD LACQUER SHIBAYAMA SAYA SHEATH INRO MEIJI 1868-1912 The saya decorated with oni, long-nose bakemono, adults and children playing in a continuous mountainous scene, with mother of pearl, tortoiseshell, coral, aogai and ivory inlays on a gold lacquer background, the inner three-case lacquer inro decorated in gold togidashi and e-nashiji with variously patterned brocades, signed, with a wood and lacquer ojime in the shape of a war drum, and an ivory netsuke shaped as an oni examining a massive oni mask, signed Gyokuzan, 11.2cm.
A FINE JAPANESE SATSUMA BOWL MEIJI 1868-1912 The well decorated with women on a terrace overlooking a large garden, the exterior with various genre scenes, the largest one with many boys playing musical instruments, on an asa-no-ha ground with scattered books, the base signed Hankinzan do, 13cm. Cf. L Lawrence, Satsuma Masterpieces from the World’s Important Collections, pp.114-115 for other bowls by Hankinzan.
EARLY 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY SATIN WOOD BANDED HALF OCTAGONAL FOLD-OVER CARD TABLE, the top with three rows of rosewood and satinwood banding opening to reveal baize playing surface above satinwood cross banded frieze standing on square tapering string inlaid legs with spade feet. Circa 1800. 36" x 70.75" x 29" (91.5cm x 46cmx 74cm). CONDITION REPORT: A little dry with water stains and marks to the top. Minor losses to cross banding and inlays in places. Basically sound.
19th CENTURY FRENCH WALNUT FOLD OVER SERPENTINE CARD TABLE, the top with quarter veneers and broad banding opening to reveal baize playing surface. Gilt metal mounted cross banded frieze below standing on figural gilt metal mounted cabriole legs and scrolled feet. Circa 1875. 31" wide x 16" deep x 29.5" high (79 x 40 x 75cms). CONDITION REPORT: Overall good clean condition. Some minor splitting to veneers in places. The top is warped and will require attention. The scrolled feet from the two back legs are missing.
LATE VICTORIAN INLAID ROSEWOOD ENVELOPE TOPPED CARD TABLE, the top inlaid with figural and foliate designs opening to reveal baize playing surface and guinea wells, single frieze drawer standing on square tapering legs with cross-over stretcher having centre finial. c. 1885. 21.5" x 28" (54 x70cm) CONDITION REPORT: Fair condition overall, requires repolishing, scuffs, marks generally. Bands of missing mouldings from upper legs.
A pack of Salmon & Gluckstein Ltd Dandy Fifth Tobacco & Cigarettes playing cards, in original box, a pack of Goodall & Son London playing cards, the reverse decorated with Buckingham Palace in a presentation box with retailer's label De la rue stationers suppliers of playing cards to HM King George VI and a pack of French playing cards, edition number 1398 in a series of 12,000 St Hubert's Bridge cards by Philibert Paris. Each of the face cards decorated with a hunting scene, in a black leatherette case including two jokers, a cover card and a queen of diamonds advertising card.
A Victorian rosewood fire screen with scroll crest and foliate wool work panel over cabriole legs united by a central stretcher (118cm wide) and an early 20th century wool work picture depicting two young men, one playing a flute and titled 'Lovely Nancy' framed and glazed (a.f.) (65cm x 57cm). (2)
THE BEATLES - fantastic collection of 30 unseen and unpublished black and white negatives (6cm x 6cm) of The Beatles performing live on the 20th November 1963 at the ABC Cinema in Ardwick, Manchester. To include 24 shots of them performing on stage with 6 of the crowd going wild. These high quality images were taken from the front of the stage by North West photographer Derek Preston and include some excellent shots featuring all of the band, Paul & George, Ringo on drums and John playing guitar, singing and also play acting on stage. Derek was good friends with Harry Goodwin and used to accompany Harry when he was resident photograph at Top Of The Pops (when it was recorded in Manchester during the 60's). These images are being sold with copyright.

WEBER - OVERTURES - SXL 2112 - ED1 copy of Ernest Ansermet conducting L'Orchestre De La Suisse Romande playing Weber Overtures. The wide band "original recording by" Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound record is in Ex condition, with a couple of light surface marks, but no deep scratches. The sleeve, which design has Decca's original "blue border" is in VG+ condition. There is some ringwear on the front of the sleeve with some minor damage to the lamination on the front- the flipback rear of the sleeve is in good order.
