A late 19th century Swiss musical box, rosewood cased, large form, also with organ type mechanism, playing six airs, waltz, La Traviata, etc., paper label. Cylinder 27.5 cm, case width 53 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds. The mechanism operates and sounds tuneful. The harmonium section also operates and again sounds tuneful. The change mechanism appears to operate as does the stop/start lever as far as we can tell. There is a small section of veneer missing to the front right hand corner of the top of the case and a stress fracture towards the rear right hand corner. The same stress fracture runs from the right hand corner across the rear of the top for approximately 8 cm. The case appears to have been affected by woodworm at some point. There are traces of old woodworm holes to the front, sides and back. The woodworm is not in our opinion active. There do not appear to be any losses to the comb tips.
