INCREDIBLE STRING BAND - THE LETTER - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Lovely track here produced by the all knowing Joe Boyd! Issued as a single sided release with the 'Custom Recording' label. The playing surface is in solid VG condition with some fading to the surface and a few light surface markings; nothing of a heavier nature whatsoever. With 'The Letter I.S.B (STEREO)' hand written on the label. Very interestingly, this is a different version to that was released on the 1970 LP 'I Looked Up' - most noted is the presence of a harpsichord playing an intricate little melody at the start of the track which reappears when this 'diatonic scale' comes back in at the end of the verses. The tempo is also distinctly faster. There are other differences with the appearance of an electric guitar that was seemingly replaced with whistling on the 'final' cut.
ALVIN STARDUST - YOU YOU YOU - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Coo-ca-choo how about this 7" single sided 'Custom Recording' label acetate? The playing surface is in tidy VG+ condition with a few rather light surface markings; the aluminium lacquer has held up very well indeed. There is some 'spotting' to the label, but all the text is fully legible.
SPLINTER - DRINK ALL DAY - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Rare 7" 'Custom Recording' Apple label release of Drink All Day by Splinter who signed to George Harrison's Dark Horse label. KEVIN KEEGAN - BELIEVE ME (IT AIN'T EASY) - Remarkably scarce release from the celebrated forward, here he is entering the world of Pop with Believe Me (It Ain't Easy). Issued here on the Apple 'Custom Recording' label on a single sided 7" acetate. The playing surface is in VG+ condition - a largely clean record, there is some fading to the surface, though only a couple of very light and minor surface markings. Printed label with "Believe Me" crossed out in pen.
GARY WRIGHT - STAND FOR OUR RIGHTS/ I CAN SEE THE REASON (APPLE 7" ACETATE) - Very early 7" acetate recording from the Spooky Tooth man. WHITE TRASH - ROAD TO NOWHERE/ILLUSIONS - APPLE 7" TEST PRESSING - - Very seldom seen 7" test pressing pre-release of APPLE 6 featuring Scottish rockers White Trash. The playing surface is in VG+ condition with only a couple of very light and faint surface marks - please note there is 'shadowing' residue to both sides. The Apple custom labels are 'unglued' from the labels (it may even have been that they were never stuck on).
DORIS TROY - ROCK OF AGES - APPLE 7" ACETATE - A 7" single sided acetate issued on the Apple 'Custom Recording' label. The playing surface is in VG+ condition with only a few light markings with some light fading to the surface - this is not a major feature and the record will certainly still play through well. The printed labels are in good order with some light discolouration.
DORIS TROY - I WANNA GET MY LITTLE BABY BACK - APPLE 7" ACETATE - A very early version of the 1970 classic - this single sided acetate is issued on the Apple 'Custom Recording' label with hand written "I Wanna Get My Little Baby Back Doris Troy (Very Rough Mix) Stereo'. IVEYS - BEAUTIFUL & BLUE - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Unlikely to see again single sided 7" Apple 'Custom Recording' acetate from Iveys (pre-Badfinger). This track was issued on Badfinger's 1970 LP Magic Christian Music. The playing surface is in VG+ condition with a few light surface markings - this is not a major feature and there is only minimal wear to the aluminium lacquer on the outer rim (not the playing area). The labels have some fading but are still fully legible.
IVEYS - GIVE IT A TRY - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Unlikely to see again single sided 7" Apple 'Custom Recording' -acetate from Iveys (pre-Badfinger). This is a different version to the final release and almost sounds like it has been recorded live - there is some chatter between the band before the intro... This track was issued on Badfinger's 1970 LP Magic Christian Music. The playing surface is in neat Ex condition with just a couple of light scuff marks; these are only very light and look like they could be removed as they could just be some residue. Clean label with only minor discolouration.
IVEYS - WALK OUT IN THE RAIN - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Unlikely to see again single sided 7" Apple 'Custom Recording' acetate from Iveys (pre-Badfinger) - and a different recording to the final studio version. This track was issued on Badfinger's 1970 LP Magic Christian Music with the title 'Walk In The Rain'. The playing surface is in clean Ex condition with just a couple of rather light and minor surface marks. With a clean and well presented label. A beautiful tune, this recording features Pete Ham effectively sounding live; there are slight changes in tempo that would be changed in the final version.
BADFINGER - THE DARK - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Very scarce 7" single sided 'Custom Recording' Apple acetate for the track that appeared as 'We're For The Dark' on the 1970 LP No Dice. BADFINGER - BELIEVE ME - TRIDENT STUDIOS 7" ACETATE - Continuing with this remarkable run of acetates is this Trident Studios 7" recording of Believe Me, officially released on the 1970 LP No Dice. The playing surface is in well presented VG+ condition with a couple of light surface markings - these are never of a heavier nature. With printed label are handwritten titles and '45 Stereo'. The label is in great clean condition. With 200AA stamped on the non playing side.
BADFINGER - NO MATTER WHAT - APPLE 7" ACETATE - No matter what, don't miss out on this 7" single sided Apple 'Custom Recording' acetate! The playing surface is in well presented Ex condition with only a couple of extremely minor, light and faint surface marks and a little 'residue' to the lacquer - this is not a major feature and playback should not be affected in any major way. Lovely clean printed label. With a message from the band? on the paper sleeve which reads: "If we don't see ya on the way out Tara!"
APPLE PUBLISHING DEMOS/EMIDISCS- A bundle of 6x 7" releases and rarities of singles published by Apple and released through different labels. To include 2x Emidiscs from George Alexander, one as Big Fat Brother and one titled as "Ain't it Good" (both G+, with scuff marks on playing surfaces), Thunder and Lightning - Grapefruit (demo, RCA 1907 with push through centre, VG+), Steve Miller Band - Going to the Country (promo, CL 15656, company sleeve, Ex), Steve Miller Band - The Gangster is Back (CL 15712) and Mariah Carey - Without You & Never Forget You (659919 7, Ex).
YOKO ONO - RUN, RUN, RUN - APPLE 7" ACETATE - Terrific Yoko rarity with this single sided 7" Apple 'Custom Recording' acetate. The playing surface is in G+ condition. Many surface markings are apparent, though none of these are of a heavier nature and I fully expect the record to play through. Aside from this, there is some wear to the lacquer and the printed label is detached from the record.
PLASTIC ONO BAND - OPEN YOUR BOX - 7" APPLE ACETATE - Incredibly rare single sided 7" Apple 'Custom Recording' acetate. The playing surface is in VG+ condition with a few light surface markings - these are never of a heavier nature with no scratches to note. The surface is a little faded (giving the look of 'condensation', but this isn't overly intrusive). The printed label is nice and clean with only very light wear.
WINGS - BAND ON THE RUN WHITE LABEL TEST PRESSING - A 7" white label test press of Wings' Band on The Run. Handwritten labels detail date (21/6/74), cat number (R5997) and publishing info, whilst matrix number reads 7YCE 21746 DJ-1. Condition is exemplary at a solid Ex on both playing sides. A real collectors piece here!
GEORGE HARRISON - APPLE SCRUFFS - 7" APPLE ACETATE - My sweet lord, how about this terrific single sided 7" acetate from George! A homage to Beatles fans who would wait (in vain) after the band's break up in various venues across London, the track is heavily influenced by Harrison's friend Bob Dylan, with George trying his hand on the Harmonica... Released with the 'Custom Recording' London address printed label. The playing surface is in VG condition with some surface markings - these are only light in nature with no scratches to note. The lacquer has held up very well indeed. The label is well presented with some minor wear.
THE BEATLES - ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE - UK 7" DEMO - The original green/white UK 7" Parlophone demo (R 5620). THE BEATLES - SOMETHING - UK 7" DEMO (PARLOPHONE) - Almost impossible to find original green/white Parlophone demo of the 1969 cut c/w Come Together (the stock release would be issued on the newly formed Apple Records). The record is in VG condition with some surface marks noted on both sides - these rarely extend any heavier than this; there is one very light but just feelable scratch towards the start of Come Together - this does not cause any skips or jumps with both sides playing through very well. Matrix/stampers: 7YCE 21369-1U 3 GL KT & 21370-1U 4 DR KT. The four pronged centre is fully intact.
THE BEATLES - LOVE ME DO - UK 7" DEMO - The phrase 'holy grail' is brandished around a lot these days, but surely this is up there for any Beatles fan - the original UK 7" demo of the very first single (Parlophone red/white labels 54-R 4949). The playing surface on the A side is in VG condition. There are surface marks to the surface with a light scratch towards the start. On playback there are a couple of light pops with no skips or jumps. The B side P.S I Love You is in VG condition. Again, there are surface markings to the playing surface - these are mainly as stated on the surface though there is a small scratch at the end of the track. Again, playback is uninterrupted with so skips or jumps. Love Me Do is credited as 'Lennon-McCartney'. The four pronged centre is fully intact - there is a name 'Tracy' (neatly) written on both sides on the centre. The labels are nice and clean with only minor wear. With the ZT tax code on the A side. Matrix/stampers: 7XCE 17144-1N ZT JR & 7XCE 17145-1N ZT JR. Housed with original promo 'Urgent Special Rush Copy' Parlophone company sleeve, well presented in VG+ condition with no rips or tears.
