A collection of Chinese export school 'Lady Musician' rice paper drawings, Circa 1900 Comprising six matched examples, depicting ladies seated within interior scenes, before huanghuali furniture and precious objects, each of the individual lady musicians playing their instrument, including Ruan, Bangu, Suona, Haotong, gong and cymbals, painted in vibrants greens, reds and blues, all framed and glazed, in frame 24cm x 16cm, painting 22cm x 14.5cm, together with two further rice paper drawings. (8) (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: All show moderate to major foxing indicative of age, pigments remain vibrant on all, three have moderate to extensive tears running vertically, most show yellowing to the edges of the recto, please note none of the paintings have been removed from the frame, so therefore the condition of the verso and edges is unknown Two extra painting - both show foxing, both have rippling to the paper, possibly due to water damage.
A fine quality and large 19th Century Swiss cylinder music box The 15" cylinder playing ten airs, and stamped '13 10243', the rosewood veneered and Kingwood cross banded case inlaid with satinwood banding and painted with floral and musical trophies, the inside lid applied with decorative chromolithographic panel naming all ten airs, the case approx. 76cm wide. (illustrated) CONDITION REPORT: One tooth on the very end is missing, it is working when report was given.

SIMEON STAFFORD (b.1956) Unframed, signed, oil on board, dated and titled verso, '10.82', 'Harbour Scene St Ives', Naïve busy coastal scene, with figures playing on beach before an beached orange sailed boat. Stafford moved to Cornwall in 1996, resulting in a great deal of his work influenced by the Cornish coastline. He has developed a number of recurring motifs in his work, which can be looked out for, such as 'Dot', a young girl cartwheeling across the canvas (his aunt as a child), 'Ruby', a young girl with pigtails and sometimes a man with red stripy trousers leading a small boy by the hand (Simeon with his son). Previously exhibiting at the R.A. in 2001, Simeon also has his work in the Queen's private collection, 43cm x 62cm. Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist. (ARR).
