CONDITION REPORT: The lid action is not working and the hinge is broken. Silver is out of shape in parts. Heavily tarnished.
A late 18th/early 19th century Chinese porcelain plate painted in underglaze blue with eight immortals seated upon various celestial animals, within floral and scroll border, bearing Yu (jade) mark to the base, diameter 24cm and a further example painted with eight boys playing within border of lucky bats on geometrical ground, unmarked, diameter 20cm (af) (2). CONDITION REPORT: Both plates have some chips and areas of fritting to the rims, the larger plate with hairline spreading from one of the chips.
A Chinese Ducai porcelain tea cup, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze enamels with garden scene of boys playing, diameter 8cm, and a further similar example decorated with birds, both bearing Qianlong six character mark to bases (2). CONDITION REPORT: Appears good with no obvious signs of faults, damage or restoration.
A good Japanese Meijii period carved ivory and Shibyama style inlaid okimono depicting a young woman playing a zhongruan with sensor upon a tree stump by her side and elaborately decorated costume, signed to a green oval plaque to the base, height 43.5cm, af. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the musical instrument has been broken and is crudely glued to her hand, it is missing the tuning pegs and a section of scroll is broken from the back of her hair to where it joins the instrument, also a section from her shoulder missing which would join the instrument, overall this needs tidying up as it has old residue of glue, there is a small stress crack to the back of her neck and several vertical natural cracks to the ivory, the Shibyama inlay is present throughout and the base has a natural crack running around it also which has been incorporated into the design.

Three printed squares comprising a souvenir colour printed silk scarf depicting an early 19th century scene of the St Leger Race, Doncaster, titled: Doncaster Race for The Great St. Leger Stakes, the border printed with various racehorses, grooms and riders with the St. Leger Trophy in each corner, embroidered initials JB or IB in one corner, 33in. sq. 84cm. sq. Time stains and small splits; a printed cotton neckerchief, late 19th century, entitled: The Manx Puzzle. Where's the Cat? 24in. square; 61cm. square. Some time stains. An almost identical example (differing narrow border) is illustrated on www.puzzlemuseum.com; and a sepia printed silk neckerchief depicting children playing with skipping ropes around the border, the field filled with short pieces of rope, some being held in a hand, others wrapped around clogs, 25in. x 24in. 64cm. x 61cm. A 9ct gold and enamel International Football League medal awarded to Alexander 'Alex' Bennett, Scotland vs England 1908:, obverse with English and Scottish lions in shield cartouches on a stippled ground with white enamel pendant beneath, the whole with a blue enamel circular border surmounted by a football flanked by a laurel crest, reverse engraved 'Won by Alexr Bennett 1908 DFT', hallmarked Birmingham 1907, with engraved border and later applied brooch pin, 4.5cm high.* Notes Alexander 'Alex' Bennett (1881-1940) began playing for his local club Rutherglen Glencairn in 1901 and was selected for the Scottish International Junior side in 1902, scoring three goals in junior internationals. In 1903 he signed for Celtic Rangers and was a regular first team player in the squad that won the Scottish League title for four years consecutively from 1905-1908. In 1908 he left Celtic and signed for Glasgow Rangers (ten days after scoring the winning goal against them) and became the first player ever to play for both Celtic and Rangers. The signing did not pass without an enquiry from Celtic into the transfer, but the appeal was eventually turned down by the Scottish FA in June 1908. During the First World War he played for Dumbarton and finished his footballing career with Albion Rovers in over the 1920/21 season. He went on to manage Third Larnak and Clydebank as well a writing a regular column for the Daily Mail. Over his playing career he made eleven appearances for the Scottish International team scoring two goals and represented the Scottish League on ten occasions.
Nottingham Forrest Football Club - a Victorian figured walnut square decanter box:, the top inset with brass shield cartouche inscribed 'Nott'm Forrest FC May 1st 1886', the fitted interior containing four cut glass square decanters and a single glass to the underside of the lid, brass military style handles to either side of the case, 30cm x 25cm x 25cm.*Notes Nottingham Forrest were founded in 1865 playing in the Football Alliance before joining the Football League in 1892. In 1886 they donated team shirts to Arsenal helping them establish the formation of the team.
A Scottish League blue velvet International cap for Scotland Vs England 1894 presented to Jimmy Blessington:, with embroidered armorial over gold band and dated 1894 to peak, (lacks tassel, interior worn and frayed)'* Biography James 'Jimmy' Blessington (1874-1939) was born in Linlithgow, West Lothian and began playing for several Edinburgh clubs before coming to prominence with Celtic in the 1890s. In 1898 he moved to England and played for several clubs before joining Leicester Fosse in 1903 where he undertook the role of player-manager from 1907-1909. He was capped four times for the Scottish National team between 1894 -1896 and made five appearances for the Scottish League Side. In 1912 he became a beer retailer in Leicester and after serving for the Merchant navy during WWI he returned to Leicester to take over The Stag & Pheasant in Humberstone Gate. *Provenance- Presented to Leicester Fosse team mate Billy Bannister during their time together at the club and then by family descent.
