the classical style case with winged female playing a lyre, an attendant holding her music looks on, a triform pedestal with doves to her other side, the 9.5cm (3.75in) enamelled dial signed 'Lemoine a Paris', with Roman numerals, moon hands and unsigned count-wheel striking silk suspension movement, all on a rectangular stepped base with classical relief frieze 46 x 37cmFootnote: Provenance: In the collection at the Chateau de Maintenon and by descent to Adrien, 8th Duc de Noailles; his daughter Elizabeth, Lady Macready (1898-1969) whose granddaughter bequeathed it to the late owner. Chateau de Maintenon was bought in 1674 by Madame de Maintenon with the financial support of Louis XIV (she was governess to his illegitimate children and subsequently became his second wife). The gardens, famous for the aquaduct, were designed by André Le Nôtre. Madame de Maintenon gave the Chateau to her niece as dowry to her marriage to the Duc de Noailles in 1698. In the 19th century, Duke Paul de Noailles and the architect Henri Parent changed the façades and modernised the Château adding modern comforts. The Chateau remained in the Noailles family until Genevieve de Noailles, (married to Monsieur Raindre), only child of the Duke, inherited the Chateau, but not the title, in 1953. In 1983 the family bequeathed the Chateau to the Fondation Maintenon, which is now known as Fondation Mansart. In 2005, the foundation asked the Eure-et-Loir General Council to take over the management of the Chateau.

DARRELL BANKS - OPEN THE DOOR TO YOUR HEART C/W OUR LOVE - ORIGINAL UK LONDON STOCK COPY 7" (HL 10070). This is the one. The true holy grail for any Northern Soul collector, here is the fabled original UK stock copy on London of these two superb cuts from Darrell Banks. Infamously never released on London due to the label not having the rights to the release, the record was then released on Stateside in 1966 only after all copies that were pressed on London were destroyed; as rarity goes then you can forget about Frank Wilson and The Sex Pistols because this trumps them all! These are also two outstanding tracks too, Open The Door To Your Heart an infectious mid-tempo classic, the faster paced Our Love (released as Our Love Is In The Pocket) sure to fill the dance floor too. This is the only known copy to exist, the record was sold thorugh John Manship's auction in 2014.The condition is also superb. Graded as Ex+ or 'NM', the record has clearly been played sparingly over its 54 years of existence - there are only a couple extremely faint, fine and wispy hairline markings to the playing surfaces with no heavier markings of any nature to note.
