Good-looking 964 rebuilt a few years ago and finished in topical Slate Grey. Despite the fact that Steve McQueen's 1971 film Le Mans is full of drama, disaster and despair, it's most commonly remembered for the opening sequence with McQueen quietly making his way through Northern France in his 1970 'D' Series 911 S. The Slate Grey car looks entirely at home on a misty early morning as the Porsche gently negotiates the sweeping, tree-lined curves of the D35 between Brulon and Cheville with no soundtrack apart from a little Michel Legrand flute music and an occasional 'gruffle' from the flat-six and, with the benefit of nostalgia, Slate Grey is now the ‘coolest’ colour for classic 911s.This striking 911 (964) Carrera 2 dates from 1990 and is indeed finished in Slate Grey with a black leather interior and 968 alloys. It’s a right-hand drive Carrera 2 powered by 3.6-litre 250bhp flat-six with a 5-speed manual gearbox and capable of 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and 160mph.It was bought by our vendor, a Porsche enthusiast, in 2009 as a ‘Category D’ insurance claim (damaged but repairable - insurance company chose not to repair). Apparently there was front end damage to the bumper and the front oil-cooler. During the front end repair, the engine was refilled and ran perfectly, however, it was stripped with a view to a possible rebuild but very little wear was found and it was reassembled with a basic refresh only 5,000 miles ago. The front end was rebuilt with a new bumper assembly but the wings are original.Since completion, some ten years ago, he has enjoyed various trips including the Nürburgring and it was even loaned to Lancaster Porsche on an open evening launch as they were unable to find a suitably attractive Porsche 964!The car will come to the sale with a fresh MOT and is very sensibly estimated for a 964 of this quality, an ideal entry into the world of 911 ownership. Ready to be enjoyed during what’s left of this summer, maybe even a trip to Northern France with the Autumn sunshine dappling through the trees onto those gleaming Slate Grey wings and the soundtrack from Le Mans playing in the background. Why not?Specification Make: PORSCHE Model: 911 964 Year: 1990 Chassis Number: WP0ZZZ96ZLS404222 Registration Number: G338 BTW Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 62L07648 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 137171 Miles Make: RHD Interior Colour: Black LeatherClick here for more details and images

**Saleroom Notice - Please note there is an element of finishing work required to the radiator, driveshafts and oil system. Because of this the estimate has been lowered to £17,000 - £20,000. Required parts are included in the sale.** An historically significant car, one of the very first, freshly rebuilt and HSCC-eligible. Formula Ford 1600 has pride of place as the world’s most successful single seater formula. The brainchild of Walter Hayes, Ford’s Marketing Director who saw the potential of using a blueprinted 1,600cc Kent engine mated to a thoroughbred single seater to create the ultimate level playing field for emerging talent. The rules were simple, tubular space frame chassis (from any manufacturer), four gears, control tyres and steel brakes. The result took the world by storm and the formula counts names such as Senna, Schumacher, Fittipaldi, Hakkinen, Button, Räikkönen and Hill among its alumni. Founded by Alex Francis and Bill Harris, Alexis first made an impact in Formula Junior racing in the early 1960s, building cars for its in-house Team Alexis, however, their decision to become involved with Formula Ford was the right one, proving an outstanding success both competitively and commercially. The firm’s first FF design was the 'Russell-Alexis' (retrospectively known as the Mk14) following a deal struck to supply cars for the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School, hence the name. The first Formula Ford race was held at Brands Hatch on 2nd July 1967 and the Alexis Mk14 went on to win more races in the following 12 months than any other contender, comfortably eclipsing its main rival, the Lotus 51. The Russell-Alexis evolved into the Alexis Mk15 late in 1968 and this model was the firm’s frontline FF contender for the 1969 season. This beautiful Mk15 is eligible for HSCC’s ever-popular Historic FF1600 championship and is offered fresh from a substantial rebuild by Iain Rowley at Delta Motorsport to a high standard. No stone went unturned in the car’s reconstruction which now boasts a zero miles Barnett engine and a zero miles refreshed Hewland Mk8 gearbox with new input shaft. Meanwhile the chassis has been freshly powder-coated and bodywork all resprayed to a high standard. Brand new dampers and springs take care of the suspension, which also features all new rose-joints and bearings. Additionally, the following are all new: drive shafts, instruments, extinguisher, belts, wheels & tyres, brake callipers and pads, exhaust, brake and clutch lines, clutch release bearing, master cylinders and the battery.Professionally prepared and beautifully presented, this little Alexis is offered 'on the button' and after a spanner check, ready to race. Competitive in class in Historic FF, it would also be fun for an occasional day at Shelsley or Prescott.SpecificationMake: ALEXISModel: MK15Year: 1968Chassis Number: TBCRegistration Number: N/ATransmission: ManualClick here for more details and images
