(47cm.) high.

Freeman Donoghue: Catalogue of the collection of playing cards bequeathed to the British Museum by Lady Charlotte Schreiber, London, BM, 1901, S. 210, Nr. 2. Das Kriegsspiel besteht aus 52 Spielkarten und einer zusätzlichen Tafel, die als Gewinnkarte interpretiert werden kann. Diese Tafel mit der Nr. 53 zeigt eine Szene, in der der Monarch einem siegreichen General einen Marschallstab übergibt. Die Spielregeln und Abkürzungen werden ebenfalls erläutert. Die zentrale Tafel des Bogens vermerkt den Verleger des Kartenspiels: Peter Schencken (Pieter Schenk), Amsterdam. Schenks Kartenspiel basiert auf Gilles de la Boissières Le Jeu de la Guerre (1698). Boissière veröffentlichte zudem ein ähnliches Kriegsspiel mit dem Titel Le Jeu des Fortifications (1710), das Schenk mit dem Kartenspiel Festung Baues Spiel ebenfalls kopierte. Das seltene Kartenspiel hier auf dem unbeschnittenen Bogen in einem ganz ausgezeichneten Druck, unten und oben mit Rand links und rechts ca. 0,2 mm in die Darstellung geschnitten. Vertikale Mittelfalte, diese unten und oben gesprungen und hinterlegt, die Ränder minimal gebräunt und angeschmutzt, kleine Randläsuren bzw. -Risse, diese teils hinterlegt, an der oberen rechten Ecke mit kleinem Papierverlust, insgesamt das Papier minimal knittrig, sonst gut erhalten. Wir bitten darum, Zustandsberichte zu den Losen zu erfragen, da der Erhaltungszustand nur in Ausnahmefällen im Katalog angegeben ist.
