A scarce 8vo printed brochure issued for Walt’s Field Day held at Lake Norconian Hotel, Norco, California, 4th June 1938, issued to a Mrs. W. Clinton and numbered 797 (the admission tickets detached as instructed and no longer present), giving a programme of events for the day, individually signed by eight Disney animators and art directors, four of them members of Disney’s Nine Old Men and all of them Disney Legends, comprising Marc Davis (1913-2000), Ollie Johnston (1912-2008, signed twice), Ward Kimball (1914-2002), Frank Thomas (1912-2004), Jack Hannah (1913-1994), Ken O’Connor (1908-1998), Joe Grant (1908-2005) and John Hench (1908-2004). ‘Should Auld Acquaintance Be Forgot. Jan 1st 1966 at M.C.G.’. M.C.C. tour of Australia 1965/66. Impressive original pen and ink caricature/ cartoon newspaper artwork for The Age, Australian newspaper by artist Samuel Wells. The cartoon features the scores at close of play on the 3rd Day of the Test match at Melbourne, M.C.C. having scored 516-7 in reply to the Australian score of 358 all out. The artwork shows the M.C.C. team dressed in kilts and performing Scottish dancing. Players featured include McCowdrey (104 runs), McEdrich (109), McBarrington (63), McSmith (41) (holding the kangaroo haggis) and McParks (66no). The players being led by a kilted lion playing the bag pipes. The cartoon, signed by Wells, is dated 3rd January 1966, measures 21”x14”. Excellent image. G

Original large pen and ink, highlighted with colour, caricature/ cartoon artwork showing four boys playing cricket in the park, a further game of football is being played in the background. to centre front a boy wearing a cap with a white rose, Yorkshire scarf and holding a newspaper with banner headline ‘Yorkshire Again!’ is merrily whistling ‘On Ilkla Moor Baht’at’. The caption, to lower border reads ‘The Swankpot!. Just because e’s got an Auntie who lives in Bradford....’. Excellent image. Drawn on artists card and signed by artist Lee, to lower border. Dated to verso ‘29th August 1946’. The artwork, produced for the London Evening News, measures 10.5”x15” Some staining to, mainly, the right hand border of artwork otherwise in good condition Joseph Lee worked for Strand Magazine and Pall Mall Gazette before joining the Sunday Express. From 1934 to 1966 Lee worked for the London Evening News

ZANUCK DARRYL F.: (1902-1979) American Film Producer and Studio Executive, Academy Award winner. A good series of ten T.Ls.S., Daddy, twenty pages (total), 4to, various places, 29th January 1968 - 13th January 1971, all to his daughter Darrylin Zanuck Pineda in Mexico, and each on the printed stationery of 20th Century Fox. Zanuck writes an interesting series of letters discussing a wide variety of subjects and personal matters including the preparation of her Will under Mexican law, his travel and work schedule, the Olympic Games in Mexico, his family and his views on how his daughter should raise her children, business difficulties with his son, Richard etc., in part, 'I leave a couple of days thereafter on an extended trip….including three days in Normandy to revisit for a television Special dealing with how Normandy looks today as compared with how it looked in "The Longest Day" ' (23rd July 1968), 'I received a letter from Oscar who says he is my grandchild. I don't remember any grandchild by the name of Oscar; but I am sure he is a child whom you have adopted so I am enclosing this check for him [no longer present] which you can give to him with my love.' (5th March 1969), 'I read with shock your letter to Dick concerning the tragedy that almost occurred in your effort to save the drowning woman. It frightened the hell out of me. I understand your bravery, but what I cannot understand is why a hotel like the Hilton would not have a professional Lifeguard on duty at all times, and why some of the other spectators did not come to the rescue until both you and the woman were half drowned. It sounds like a Salvador Dali nightmare.' (29th September 1969), 'Unless you take firm steps to get him [Robert, her son] into a real disciplinary school in Mexico City he is going to end up regrettably in some sort of serious trouble or he will end up in Tijuana playing with his combo in one of those marijuana or LSD joints.'
