AN ANGLO-INDIAN VIZAGAPATUM IVORY GAMES CASKET, late 18th century, of oval outline, veneered on sandalwood, penworked with ribbon-tied trailing flowers within harebell borders, the interior fitted with two rectangular lidded compartments for playing cards and four oval lidded compartments containing fourteen oval, thirty two circular and fifty two rectangular mother of pearl gaming counters, variously engraved with flowers, vignettes, numbers and one of three monograms, the casket is accompanied by a hand written booklet recording the identity and biographies of the monograms, 38cm wide x 29.5cm deep x 8cm high.
