* Fred Yates (British,1922-2008), Children Playing around a Pond, signed in blue lower right “Fred Yates”, oil on board, 38 x 42cm (15 x 16in). After the Second World War and living in Manchester, Yates began painting very much in the style of Laurence Stephen Lowry. Latterly, he settled in Cornwall concentrating on scenes of local streets and the beach. Fred Yates’s work is represented in private collections in France, Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA
