English School, mid 19th century- "Playing Children"; oil on panel, 15x14.5cm: together with a hand-coloured steel engraving entitled, "A Friendly pinch", 25x16.2cm., (2) CONDITION REPORT: In a gilded, wooden (not period) frame surface dirt throughout over-painting in the corners visible under UV the faces and most of the dresses appear to be untouched. inscribed verso - but very faint paint has bubbled and cracked in places, with a minor flake missing otherwise in reasonable condition Print in wooden frame with gold slip print in very poor condition with staining, discolouration, dirt and foxing.

A mixed group of ceramic vessels comprising: a squat bowl with flared rim and two loop handles, reserved white figures of girls dancing and playing instruments, vegetation and pot-plants in the field; a tall jug with flared base, tubular neck with pouring lip, strap handle, reserved white figures of hntsmen at a gate with hounds and horses, foliage to the neck, stamped to the undrside 'Jasper Ware Made in England since 1800, Dudson Hanley'. 637 grams total, 11.5-15cm (4 1/2 - 6"). Ex Steinberg collection; acquired London art market, 1960s-1970s. Walter Steinberg has been a well-known figure at fairs, sales and events for many years. Born in 1922 in Philadelphia, Walter has had a life-long passion for collecting. A long-time resident in London, he has now retired to New York and decided that the time has come to pass on the antiquities and coins he has collected over his lifetime. Walter acquired coins and artefacts that interested him, so his collection, although containing many lovely examples, also contains many affordable specimens. Much of the material has been unavailable to the market for 30 to 50 years. Walter hopes that the items he collected will now find new homes with the next generation of collectors. A pair of early 19th century Derby figures of musicians, he wearing pink and red striped breeches and playing the drum, she wearing a gilt heightened blue dress with a zither, ex-Sotheby's Chester, both with painted marks to the reverse, height approx 27cm. CONDITION REPORT: His right hand has been broken and crudely restored. Also crudely restored at the elbow where it has been broken in two sections. The drum stick has been broken through his fingers in his left hand. There is damage and old repairs to the bocage, losses to the flower heads, a chip to his cloak and flaws to the base. She has had both hands broken and restored, the zither has been broken and restored, some losses to the bocage and flowers, some rubbing throughout.
Five Capodimonte figures depicting Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, a man playing a flute, a man playing a barrel organ, a boy sharpening knives and a dying musketeer. CONDITION REPORT: Musketeer has losses to the top of the tree, the boy with the knife has a chip to the base, flute player has a loss to the branch, Don Quixote horse has chips to the mouth and ear.
Two large late 19th century Chinese vases of baluster form with handles modelled as temple lions playing, both painted in underglaze blue with birds perched on branches amongst foliage and blossoming chrysanthemum, height 41.5cm and 43.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both vases have extensive pitting, also some glazing and firing imperfections throughout, the shorter vase has several hairlines around the base.
