A MEISSEN FIGURE OF HARLEQUIN modelled possibly by J F Eberlein after earlier models by J J Kandler, seated on a rocky mound applied with leaves and flowers, playing the bagpipes and wearing a pointed turquoise hat, ruff and a costume of alternately four colour motley, 13cm h, painted crossed swords The figure of Harlequin with bagpipes was originally modelled by Kandler in 1736 and as a popular figure the moulds were probably re-worked by Eberlein (see M Chilton, Harlequin Unmasked, Toronto 2001, No 87).
