AN ENGLISH CINEMA ORGAN BY THE JOHN COMPTON ORGAN CO, C1930 the three manual stop-key console with 3 x 61 note manuals and 32 note pedal board, in Art Deco illuminated glass surround with matching stool, ranks of pipes, tuba, horn, clarinet, oboe, box, tibia, cello, violin, celeste, flute and diapason, manual chest and base chest, two sets of standard Compton horizontal shutters and actions, toy counter, Compton standard tune percussion including xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone and chimes, multi stage blower, four tremulants, regulators, framework, pipe racks, wind ducting, manifolds, flanges and joints, console and surround approximately 165cm h; 113 x 254cm John Compton (1876-1957) established his eponymous company after a brief partnership in Nottingham in the early 20th c. The present magnificent Art Deco instrument is one of the total of 261 that the company built at its workshops in Chiswick and subsequently at a purpose-built factory at North Acton, London. They were installed in cinemas and theatres throughout the British Isles. In the 1930s the cost was approximately £3,000, representing a major investment but one which was regarded as essential in the era of the silent films where it replaced an orchestra in the pit. It also continued to play an important role with the advent of the talkies where the organist entertained the audience between features. ++This organ was acquired by the father of the present vendor and has been stored for 40 years in a dry barn. Whilst we make no warranty as to its completeness there are several thousand components and although dusty these appear to be in reasonably good condition. Many of the smaller pieces have been left undisturbed, stacked in six wooden crates and still wrapped in newspaper printed in 1972. Some of the decorative glass is missing or damaged and the gold painted console has been affected by woodworm whilst in storage. The purchaser will be required to remove the lot within 14 days of the Sale.

A 1968 Jaguar Mk.II 240 saloon, Chassis : 1J2450DN / Engine no. 7J2844/8,Jaguar ventured into a new market for small, luxury saloons in 1955 with the 2.4 litre Mk.I, and in doing so it virtually created the niche for the compact but luxurious sporting saloon, which continues to this day with the new XE. Available as a larger engined 3.4 titre from 1957, the model really came into its own on the launch of what was known as the Mk.II range in October 1959. Featuring a wider rear track to improve the handling and disc brakes all-round, plus smaller pillars for improved visibility, the beautiful Mk.II became the definitive sporting saloon of the 1960s. Available in 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 litre engined versions the Mk.II was also a force to be reckoned with on the racetracks of Europe. Proof of the inherent correctness of the design was that the MK II continued in production substantially unchanged through most of the 1960s. A reshuffle of Jaguar's saloon car range in 1966/67 in readiness for the new XJ6 lead to the Mk.II being subtly redesigned as the 240/340, with changes including slimmer bumpers, revised interior and more power and torque for the 2.4 litre XK engine in the 240. The last model rolled off the Browns Lane production lines in 1969. This largely original example of the 240 with manual gearbox is finished in the classic combination of British Racing Green with black interior, augmented with walnut dashboard and door cappings. Originally registered in the UK, the car travelled to Guernsey in 2006 and is believed to have covered 98,800 miles from new. It has been regularly serviced since arriving in the island and other notable recent work also includes a new radiator and brake pads and calliper seals. In very useable condition overall, the car is running and performing well and will be accompanied by an original sales brochure and workshop manual. The car will be complete with an up to date and thorough written audit of its condition (commissioned by the vendor and carried out just prior to the sale) and will be ready to provide many more years of head-turning service to its fortunate new owner.* Please note that the current four digit registration number on the vehicle, 8397, is not included in the sale. It will be offered to the winning bidder after the sale, by negotiation. If not required, the car will be supplied with a new, exchange registration number as soon as possible, post-sale.

ST1450022, case back with Speedmaster emblem embossed with NASA moon landing tribute, Omega crown, on original bracelet, case diameter approx. 42mm., with original box and guarantee booklet. * Condition: Small crack to left side between 9 & 10 o'clock and some scratching to glass - three deeper scratches around 7-8 o'clock. Some nicks to edges of paint on bezel. Surface scratches to case and strap throughout. Small ding to surface of metal to left side of case at 10 o'clock. When wound, watch is working but the second hand stops when it meets the minute hand. Their estimate of cost is £300-500 but with the caveat that further work may be required when the movement is examined. Case good with some surface marks and a small nick to leather to left edge of lid.
