- GENTLEMAN’S WRISTWATCH ROLEX OYSTER CHRONOGRAPHE, REF. 6034, CIRCA 1953 Tonneau-shaped two body 18K gold case, water-resistant, n. 944115, concave lugs, pump push button for the chronograph, screwed crown and case back, inside stamped with Rolex trademark and punches. Original black leather strap and Rolex gold buckle. Matte silvered dial, signed "Rolex Oyster Chronographe” with applied Rolex crown, straight "Anti-Magnetique” writing, diamond-shaped indexes side by side with tritium dots, minute/seconds division at 1/5th seconds and 5-minute Arabic markers, sunk subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 30-min and 12-hour registers, outer tachymeter scale. Skeletonized alpha hands. Manual winding movement signed "Rolex Geneve”, base Valjoux, cal. 72, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance with screws, self-compensating Breguet hairspring, Monobloc shock-absorber, hairspring guard. Accompanied by a Rolex box. Diameter Ø: 36 mm Elegant and exquisite example of Rolex Oyster Chronographe, Reference 6034, considered by some to be one of the Pre-Daytonas as ultimately subsequent developments that led to the birth of the first Cosmograph. Heir, and itself evolution of the previous reference 5034, the present watch mounts an Oyster case that, thanks to its proportions, has established itself from the beginning among the high quality chronograph models, quickly becoming not only a sport watch, but a cult item. The production lasted for over twenty years providing predominantly stainless-steel cases and leaving little space for the exemplars which today, in yellow gold and pink gold, are more rare than ever. The appeal of this watches is enhanced by the strong customization of the same through the dials which, over the years and various requests may display some varying features such as color, the indexes, the scales and the size of the registers ensuring that each watch can be "unique" and one-of-a-kind. This watch, even after all these years, remains elegant and in impeccable condition, both outside and inside, with the Valjoux 72 caliber that appears to have been subjected to a few efficient revisions, as can also be seen by the hairspring guard applied to prevent the overlap. Such service is offered only by the best support centers. More details and some of the various versions of the Reference 6034 are described in the book written by Paolo Gobbi I Cronografi Rolex, La Leggenda, Pucci Papaleo Editore. € 40000
